Spin Me Out of Control

Today was my last day of classes as an undergraduate (and I'm pretty sure for the rest of my life). It feels kind of bittersweet but it still hasn't kicked in yet. I'll probably wake up tomorrow at the same time I always do and start packing up my bag for class. As much as I dread going to classes, taking notes, and doing homework, I know one day I'm going to miss it terribly. The life of a student is fantastic and we don't even realize it while we're students. Our main responsibility is to learn. To learn. It can't get much better than that.

Graduation is quickly approaching in two weeks and I can't believe it's already here. My cap and gown are sitting in a corner of my room still waiting to be taken out of its package. I refuse to have it hanging in my closet, staring at me and reminding me of what's to come. I already got two finals out of the way early (thanks, professors!) and all that's left is one final next Monday and two take-home exams. After that there's just a week of parties, celebrations, and nights we'll never want to forget. I'm scared to leave but I'm so incredibly excited for the future.

The Rising Sun

The Rising Sun

One of my all-time favorite things to do in the world is to watch the sun rise. I always love the feeling of driving early in the morning as if I'm racing the sun to the horizon. The sun always wins, of course, but I put up a good fight (or so the police officers say with their speeding tickets). Despite our exhaustion, Jeremy and I drove to the beach this morning just in time to catch the sun rising. It was a little chillier than I expected it to be and I remember wishing that I wore pants instead of my maxi dress.  The trip was still worth it though since we grabbed the most delicious and filling breakfast afterward. Now my belly is full of omelette and potatoes. So satisfied.

The more I look through my blog, the more I realize that my style has definitely gotten simpler over the years. I remember when I first started blogging, I didn't know what my personal style was and I always thought you had to incorporate a million things into your outfit in order to be stylish. I'd wear necklaces even though I didn't like necklaces because what's an outfit without accessories? Now that I'm comfortable with my closet and the clothes that I put on my back, I find myself gravitating towards simple outfits that focus on comfort. You'll rarely see me with jewelry, purses, or hats (mainly because my head is too big to fit one) and I'm completely okay with that because I wouldn't feel like myself with them on. Now the only problem is figuring out what to do with all the jewelry I accumulated over the years. I'm pretty sure my roommates get more use out of them than I do.

Skip To My Lulu*s, My Darling

After our Wine Insights class last Thursday evening, which needs more wine and less power points, Jeremy and I decided to lie around in the grass for a little bit to enjoy the beautiful weather. Actually, it started off as outfit photos since I wanted to capture the sunset but then it led to bumming around outside. It's really nice just lying around, smelling the freshly cut grass, and feeling the cool breeze against your face - that is, until the allergies kick in. If only allergies didn't have to come along with the beautiful, Spring weather but I guess we can't have it all. I never used to have allergies back in high school but ever since I came to college my eyes would get irritated in seconds. Yay for developing allergies as you grow up! And also Yay for allergy medication! :P

Lulu*s generously sent me over this gorgeous heart-printed cardigan you see me wearing and I have been wearing it every chance I get. Normally I'm not a big fan of prints, especially on such a large-scale, but I've fallen in love with it over time. My favorite part about the cardigan is the fact that it has two layers of fabric so it's surprisingly warm. This is coming in handy since the weather decided to be winter again. Make up your mind, Mother Nature! I heard it snowed it Pittsburgh this morning and it's already the end of April. Insanity.

We Run the Night

I'm not gonna lie. I've had this outfit planned for months but it was always too cold outside to wear it. I stubbornly refused to pair it with a cardigan or with tights so I tucked it away for when the weather warmed up. Thankfully it reached the high 80's the other day so I whipped it out with no hesitation and strutted my bare legs and arms all over campus. Bring it on, sunshine. Bring it on.

And I'm sure you're all wondering about Mr. Afro on my foot. My friend got a bunch of these temporary tattoos with a CD (yes, CD's still exist in this digital world) and I proudly smacked it onto my foot for all to see. I completely forgot that My. Afro would continue to be featured in all my outfit posts for at least a week but I'm strangely okay with that.

I picked up my cap and gown yesterday from the University bookstore and just holding it in my hands is making me feel so bittersweet. I can't believe I'm graduating already and I'm not ready to let go of college. Entering the "real world" is going to be weird and I really need to start searching and applying for jobs right now. My lazy, college attitude won't be able to survive for long!

bright white noise

The weather this week has been amazing so far and I've been taking advantage of it by constantly wearing skirts and dresses to my classes. Yesterday the temperature reached the high 80's and I was ready to take off to the beach. Unfortunately classes got in the way, as usual. If only I lived just a little bit closer to the beach for mini-tanning sessions in between classes (but not, because tanning is bad for your skin). There's just something so soothing about the sand in your toes and the sound of the waves crashing. Maybe I can convince someone to wake up early to watch the sunrise with me on the beach sometime this week.

Cobra Starship is performing tonight at my University and I'm crazy excited. I get to interview them before the concert starts so I'm trying to think of some questions to ask them that won't be horribly boring or typical. Do you guys have anything you've always wanted to know about them? Let me know! I'm doing my research now so I don't embarrass myself in front of them or become star struck. Wish me luck!

i'll be fine once i get it

We had a more lenient travel schedule on the drive back to Jersey so we planned a few pit stops on the way home. We made it a priority to stop by a Waffle House for breakfast, stop by South of the Border again (a famous pit stop at the border of the Carolinas), and hang out at the 100th Anniversary Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. After leaving Hogwarts (aka the Holy Land), we knew we would need some pick me ups before returning to reality. (Just kidding, Hogwarts is reality).

The weather in D.C. was absolutely beautiful but unfortunately the cherry blossoms weren't around anymore. There would be a few scattered around the city but it was a little bit disappointing since I was expecting blossoms EVERYWHERE. It was still nice wandering around, getting some Dim Sum, and lying under the sun with the perfect, spring breeze passing by now and again.

But on another note, I think I've been in a blog slump for the past two months. Both because I didn't really have the time for it and I lost motivation to dress nicely or take pictures if I did. It was also harder to have pictures taken without having to use a tripod. I would update my blog less often, as you guys have probably noticed, and I just felt like my blog was slacking in general. I know blogging is something I'm going to want to do for a while longer so I think I'm going to revamp the layout to refresh my passion for blogging. Nothing like a makeover to start over fresh! Any suggestions?

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

My roommates and I spent our second day in Florida at Universal's Islands of Adventure. And of course, we spent most of our time in the most important part of the park: HOGWARTS. I'm pretty sure my roommates and I were the most excited people in the park. While we were in Ollivander's we kept on getting shivers and squealing to ourselves. Meanwhile, all the little kids around us were calmly standing around as if this wasn't the most magical experience of their lifetime. I guess they didn't grow up with Harry Potter like us so to them it was just another theme park. To us, I'm pretty sure it was the Holy Land. But I'll let the pictures do all the talking.

If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It

This past weekend my roommates Monisha, Nira, and I decided to take an impromptu weekend road trip to Orlando, Florida. Our main goal? Hogwarts. I'm not ashamed to admit that the three of us have an unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter so of course we needed to cross Harry Potter World off of our senior year bucket list. On Thursday night, we packed our bags, and my car, and made the 18 hour journey down south. Worth it? Absolutely. Do people think we're crazy? Most definitely.

We arrived in Florida on Friday feeling disgusting and exhausted but the beautiful weather automatically cancelled all of those feelings out. We rolled down the windows, blasted the music, and everything just felt so right in life.

Since we were so exhausted, we decided to keep Friday night pretty low key. We dropped our stuff off at our college-budget hotel and drove over to Downtown Disney for some delicious Mexican food at Paradiso 37. I had some amazing fish tacos, although they didn't compare to Surf Taco back in Jersey. It was such a beautiful and relaxing night spent taking way too many silly photos, dodging the hundreds of toddlers and strollers, and enjoying the magic of Disney. We didn't go to Universal's Islands of Adventure until tomorrow and I'll save all those pictures for the next post! :)
