At the End of All Your Lines

Another Thanksgiving is here and I'm so glad to be home. My mom is cooking up my favorite dish that I can smell from the dining room and Jeremy will be picking me up later this afternoon to celebrate with some of his family. I'm getting my Martha Stewart skills in check by baking my friend's incredible pumpkin squares recipe before I head out. Let's just hope they're edible by the time I'm done although I was pretty successful last year.

With so much that goes on in our lives every single day, with all the little things that are blown out of proportion, and all the big things that we let pass us by, I'm just thankful that I'm surrounded by people who I love and people that support me through thick and thin. Because in the end, that's really all I need. And yes, that includes you, because without you I wouldn't have the support and encouragement to keep doing what I'm doing on this little ol' blog.

Thank you. So much.

Now stop reading and go eat some turkey already. (Just kidding, we all know the mashed potatoes steal the show). Nom nom nom.

P.S. And thank you, Kirsten, for waking up at the crack of dawn to take my pictures at sunrise in thirty degree weather. There's no one I would rather go on adventures with than you. Besides Adrian Brody of course.

Shop My Closet: Winter Edition

So I'm extremely guilty of being a hoarder when it comes to my clothes. I still keep my jeans from high school that are ripped beyond repair because they have sentimental value. My high school homecoming dresses still hang in my closet at home. And honestly, what good does keeping them do? The memories will always exist (and some I definitely need to forget). But it made me realize that I need to stop holding on to the clothes I never wear that can find a much better home.

Shop my closet on my Storenvy page here. :)

Kiss Your Fist and Touch the Sky

Winter is here. The temperatures have been dipping down to the low 20's these past few days (and colder with wind chill) and going outside was a feat in itself. Actually, I'm not even sure how I drag myself out of my apartment these days. Luckily the weather is back up to the high 30's today so the tips of my ears won't transform into icicles on my way to the subway station this morning.

I'm super pumped that this week is a short one because it'll be nice to spend some quality time with my family and be back in good ol' New Jersey. We don't really do anything outside of the ordinary, but nothing beats family time. What are you guys planning for the Thanksgiving holiday, if you're celebrating?

Never Stop, Never Settle

This past Saturday, I made Jeremy drive me to the DMV (which, like most DMV trips, was unsuccessful). But when I got out of the car, I shut the car door on my pinky and a million tears automatically came streaming down my face. I literally could not stop sobbing for a good five minutes as that little sucker experienced pain its never experienced before. Sure, I've slammed doors on my fingers before, but never has the door fully closed and I'm just grateful my finger stayed intact in comparison to the horror stories I've heard.

But why am I telling you guys this? Because this is my blog and I can say what I want. No, but seriously, I'm telling you guys because the tip of my pinky is entirely black and blue and you can see it in the third picture above. That's not nail polish, my friends. That's a massive bruise on a swollen pinky. Luckily, the constant pain that took over my pinky over the weekend has diminished and the pain only returns when I put any pressure on it. Never have I realized how much of a purpose that little guy actually serves. Pinky, you mean the world to me.

We Live Half in the Daytime

I've officially found the perfect pair of winter tights. It's been an arduous four years on this blog and ever since I delved into the world of colored tights, patterned tights, and sheer tights...let me tell you, I know my tights. Thanks to the lovely people over at Silkies, I finally got my hands on some fleece lined tights and I'm not looking back. At first I thought they would be bulky and make me sweat when I wasn't out in the cold. To my surprise, they kept me ridiculously warm in the cold, but had enough ventilation to keep me comfortable indoors. Plus, it's like wearing invisible pajamas, to be honest. So if you're going to buy one thing this winter, and you live in frigid cold temperatures, get fleece lined tights. Period.

Oh, and those leaves I'm sitting in? I spent four hours this past weekend raking them up. I no longer love leaves. (Just kidding, I will always love leaves).

23rd Birthday Wishlist

Once I entered high school, my family stopped making a big deal out of birthdays. I wouldn't throw parties at my house anymore and I'd meet up with my friends instead. I love my family to pieces, and I wouldn't trade them for the world, but I'm a sucker for birthdays. My mom, dad, and brother aren't big on celebrating holidays and yearly events in general and I'm always the one obnoxiously pushing us to get together and have a nice meal. This usually means I celebrate my birthday without my family but luckily my random groups of friends make a big enough deal to make it just as special.

But this year, since my birthday is two weeks away and I've been living on my own for a little over a year, I want to treat myself to one splurge item. And since I'm one of the most indecisive people I know, I need your help. Obviously, the armchair isn't going to be the final pick, but it's one of my goals to get an armchair in 2014. I've strangely decided that I won't feel like an adult until I own an armchair. Don't ask.

What has your vote?

I'll Find My Own Bravado

Urban Outfitters Cat Ear Hat (similar) | Olive Toggle Coat c/o Tulle (similar) | H&M Oatmeal Sweater | Tanya Jeans c/o Level 99 | Olive Boots c/o LuLu*s | H&M Necklace worn as bracelet | Green Bracelet c/o Vineyard Vines | What Time? Watch c/o Rakani

So I decided, after my last post, that I'm going to make an effort to show more of my casual outfits that I wear to work. Because you guys...pants. All the pants.

But on a separate note, can we talk about this watch? I partnered with Brandbacker to style up a Rakani watch and my favorite thing about the brand is how each of their designs has a unique story to them. I chose this particular watch since the fallen numbers remind you to stop being so structured with time. Sometimes, I get so caught in the schedule of things that I forget to just sit back and let time pass by.

My second favorite was their Running Behind watch which actually goes counterclockwise, which is a play on being fashionably late. Counterclockwise. Such a cool concept, except I would get pretty dizzy and confused though...more so than usual. Not gonna lie.

Wouldn't Be Seen Dead Here

Forever 21 Beige Coat (similar) | Topshop White Sweater (similar) | Forever 21 Polka Dot Blouse (similar) | Gap Green Zip Ankle Jeans (similar) | Cain Flats c/o Blowfish Shoes (similar) | Urban Outfitters Crossbody Bag (similar)

So I realize I never feature my looks that involve wearing pants. And that's actually half of my outfits...which, considering I wear clothes every single day, is a lot of outfits. Correct me if I'm wrong here. So here you go...

...pants.
