Keep It Real And True

Forever 21 Beige Coat (similar), Denim Jacket (similar) | White Loose T-Shirt c/o PersunMall | Olive Green Pants c/o LuLu*s (similar) | Gabriella Rocha Taupe Ankle Boots (similar) | Reversible Tote c/o LuLu*s (similar)

So, the thing with taking pictures at 7:50 AM on your way to work is that you look exhausted. Tired. Cold. And slightly miserable, even if you feel fantastic inside. I don't know how some of you guys do it, but even though I'm a morning person...I definitely don't look it here. I look more like a "why-am-I-not-in-bed-still" person.

But things that make mornings better? New bags. And new pants. Especially if your new bag fits pretty much your entire world into it, and if your new pants feel like pajamas. It's always the little, insignificant things. Always.

Suspended Underground

Urban Outfitters Pink T-Shirt (similar) | Suspender Shorts (similar), Infinity Scarf c/o LuLu*s | Forever 21 Brown Coat (similar)

I love suspenders. Straight up, love suspenders. I can still remember the first time I wore them on my blog. I found a pair of my brother's while I was visiting home and, since he never wore them, I figured I would put them to good use. At the time, "good use" apparently meant holding up pants that were so tight they didn't even need to be held up. But come on, they looked pretty cool. I ended up passing them along to Jeremy but he never wears suspenders. I should start a petition to get him to wear them on a daily basis but I'm also pretty sure that wouldn't be a good use of my time. Not 100% sure...but pretty sure.

Actually, now I'm just embarrassed to have shared outfit pictures from way back in 2010 with you guys. But you know what, there's no shame in my game. Those good ol' days, man.

Birds of a Feather

Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar) | Bird-print Maxi Dress made by Erica (similar) | Shoemint Studded Flats (similar) | Circle Necklace c/o Onecklace (similar)

Guys, I'm so tired. I think my bank account is pretty exhausted as well after this weekend. February is always a birthday-filled month for me and this weekend sent me traveling all over the tri-state area. Leaving the city Friday night, I ventured down to Atlantic City for a night I don't quite remember. It was my friend's 21st birthday (such a young kid) so I wanted to make sure he rang it in with a bang. All I know is that I woke up with sore calves (Thanks, heels!) and a cut on my left pinky. I'm going to go out on a limb here though, and say it was a hell of a good night. But that's also a very long limb I'm going out on.

After a painful morning, I headed over to Philly since one of my best friends from high school was turning 24. I'm kind of jealous of her since I much prefer even numbers to odd numbers. This night was definitely more on the chill side and we spent most of it at Frankford Hall, which was pretty much my ideal place to spend any night. Sitting by fire pits and under heat lamps, drinking giant beers outdoors, and playing Jenga? Yup, pretty perfect. Now I just need to get the smell of smoke out of my hair...

And now I'm going to bed. My beautiful, wonderful bed. What were you guys up to this weekend?

Studio 12.20 Winter Essentials

So because Mother Nature decided that winter should stick around for a couple more weeks, I find myself still lusting after winter wear when I would normally be gazing wistfully at my spring dresses. But then I keep hopefully telling myself, why invest in a coat when the weather will warm up any day now? In the meantime, I'm finding things like the Anorak above that'll get me through those in-between days. I've been craving one since October kicked in but I never made the dive into the Anorak end of the coat pool. That doesn't even make sense, but that's okay.

But on another note, I've really wanted to pull off a beanie all winter long. I don't think it's too late though - can't hats be worn year round? No? Maybe? I barely pull off my owl hat but now that I have straight bangs, I'm pretty convinced a legit knit beanie will look pretty awesome. Stay tuned to find out. Maybe I'll snag this one up.

And finally, the knit poncho/cardigan. I have to admit, I've always been a little nervous to wear one of these in public for fear of being laughed at. But like, seriously how do you wear one of those under your coat? Which is also what makes it perfect for those "not-quite-spring" days where it's too warm for a coat, but too chilly for just a sweater. And if anyone laughs at your poncho, who the fuck cares. You're fucking cozy.

Are you guys still in winter wardrobe mode? (Stop laughing, you year-round warm weather people!)

All My Favorite Colors

Forever 21 Brown Coat (similar), White Knit Top (similar) | Urban Outfitters Mustard Cardigan (similar) | Gap Green Ankle Zip Jeans (similar) | Urban Outfitters Tribal Print Scarf from Jasmine (similar) | Target Wallet | Gabrielle Moc c/o LAMO Footwear

I don't always wear my two favorite colors together, but when I do I drink Dos Equis. Well, I didn't. But I do love myself a good ol' Dos Equis so I might as well have.

Jeremy and I recently started watching House of Cards together after all the buzz about the release of the second season. We only got three episodes in and, you guys, it's so painful starting a series with someone. Why? Because you can't watch another episode until you see them again. Good thing Jeremy's staying over tonight. I don't know how I would've survived another night without some spicy politics in my night. Are any of you guys watching it?

NO SPOILERS FOR THIS FIRST SEASON NOOB PLZ.

Makes Me Fall Apart

Long Red Coat c/o LuLu*s (similar) | American Apparel Polka Dot Chiffon Skirt (similar), Black Crop Top (similar) | Plaid Scarf c/o PersunMall (similar) | Heart-Printed Tights c/o PersunMall | ASOS Thigh High Socks

It's so incredibly hot in my office right now and I'm itching to leave. But then again, I know the minute I step outside I'm going to start complaining about the cold. I've found myself working late a lot these days just to get work done or get ahead of the next day's deliverables. I always finding myself taking on a lot more than I need to because I don't trust others to get it done or I prefer to handle things myself, which ultimately has the potential to drive me crazy. But then again, I've always had that problem since high school.

It's a good thing I love what I do. Then again, I also really love my arm chair at home so I think I'm going to continue working from there. Hold on, arm chair. I'm coming for you.

A Snowy Trip to the Bronx Zoo

Zara Polka Dot Shirt (similar) | Suspender Shorts c/o LuLu*s (similar) | Forever 21 Beige Coat (similar) | Urban Outfitters Ankle Boots

To celebrate Valentine's Day weekend, Jeremy and I escaped to the Bronx Zoo to spend our Saturday surrounded by animals. You can't go wrong with animals, right? Since it was the off-season and the day predicted a decent amount of snowfall we pretty much had the entire Zoo to ourselves with the exception of a handful of other crazies. The one downfall was that a good number of attractions were under construction since this is the time they handle repairs due to the much lower rate of visitors. But we still had an incredible time, even though Jeremy didn't get to see his snow leopards.

I also realized I have an obsession with monkeys. I don't know why I never realized this before but you guys, I spent way too long just staring at them. The way they care for each other, swing from branch to branch, and just exude awesome-ness is too much for me. Now I totally understand Ross's love for his pet monkey, Marcel. No shame in that love at all.

Ruffian F14 Show

On Saturday, I had a super early morning as I headed to the Ruffian F14 show. This time around, the inside of the main tent at Lincoln Square was dark, sleek, and modern.  I loved watching the collection come down the runway which explored "monastic opulence, tailored volume, and sober religious silhouettes - with lavish sumptuousness" (which, to me, meant this was one bad ass series of looks accompanied by extremely powerful music).

...I'm not very descriptive.

Catch The Feeling of Being

Forever 21 Brown Coat (similar) | Plaid Scarf c/o PersunMall | Urban Outfitters Cropped Sweater (similar) | Ruffle Dress c/o Darling Clothes (similar) | Urban Outfitters Ankle Boots

Experiencing fashion week during the winter season is always funnier to me than experiencing it at the end of summer. What you have on underneath your coat isn't nearly as important as the coat itself. Shows don't have coat checks so you find yourself in a sea of coats, scarves, and hats. Suddenly, you realize..."Damn. I could've worn my pajamas today and no one would have noticed."

Yesterday was my last day of NYFW events as I stopped by the Ruffian F14 show in the morning and the LuLu*s Style Studio later that night with a handful of old friends. I'll share a bit about both events next time, but now I'm off to run some errands and meet Jeremy at the train station. Hope you guys are having incredible weekends as well!
