JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Yesterday I made the long commute down to Philadelphia to visit my friend Kirsten, who had just recently moved to an apartment in the area. I think I've discovered a new found love for Philly. While I adore New York city, it was refreshing to be in a city that's bustling but, at the same time, also calm. While walking around on the outskirts of Philly, there were actually moments where it was completely quiet. It's hard to find that in New York City unless you move out of manhattan...and even then there's the subtle sound of the city not too far away. But at the end of the day, I'm still biased towards the big apple and all it's wonders. I don't think I would want to be anywhere else right now.

While I was riding the subway the other day, the local train (that I was on) synced up with the express train and I could see the other passengers in their moving subway car. It was a little bit surreal to see all these individuals trapped in a speeding box and it almost felt like I was watching a silent film. Being in New York City, you really are exposed to such a diverse palette of people with incredible stories, and you can't help wonder where each person is going or if you will bump into them again under different circumstances. I always find that the places with the most people turn out to be smaller than you think. But for now, I'll be going to a bar to celebrate the end of the weekend. At least I always know where I'm going. Well....at least in the short-term.

Also, my shoes are a little dirty because I wore them to a Habitat for Humanity build. Yes, you read that right. I was the girl wearing dainty flats instead of sneakers. I did a poor job of packing and I had no other choice - it was these flats, my heels, or my sandals. At least they survived all the construction they got me through!
