A Little Fishy

I always love putting this little vintage fish dress on. I'm pretty sure it was a beach cover-up back in the day but to me it's just an everyday dress. Whenever I wear this dress my friend always says it smells kinda fishy, but I'm pretty sure she's just hating on my dress. Haters gonna hate.

I'm still pretty stressed from my still never-ending to-do list but I'm trying to manage my time better. Keep in mind, I'm only trying to manage time better, I'm not actually managing my time better yet. Speaking of managing my time better, I better go finish up my Management Information Systems assignment (sounds super exciting, doesn't it?) and then meet my friend for lunch.

Oh! And I just recently made a Facebook Page for my blog! A lot of readers have been friending me on facebook and, as much as I love it, there is a part of me that wants to keep my blog and my facebook separate. There's a lot of personal information there and for safety issues I just made a page instead! You guys can keep updated with me on Facebook through my page. I'll have status updates, blog post updates, and also special facebook giveaways! I've been debating on making this page for a long time (I couldn't get over the fact that I was making a fan page for myself, haha) but here it is! Click here to become a fan! :)

Dynamic Duo Nummer Sieben

It's been about two months since Jasmine and I did a Dynamic Duo and finally we're doing a Dynamic Duo...when we're both in the same picture! How crazy is that? I know it's not that much of a shock since you guys already saw us in the same picture (that wasn't photoshopped) during NYFW but this time we're purposely matching in our bow printed skirts from Urban Outfitters. This time I went for a navy top to bring out the bows in the skirt while Jasmine took the neutral route and added some red bows for some extra color. I love that we got dressed at the same time but ended up with really different looks with the same skirt. Looking at these pictures actually makes me miss Jasmine a lot, including all of the other bloggers I met at NYFW. Seems like it was just yesterday, but at the same time it feels like a million years ago.

(on jasmine: cardigan gap, top forever 21, skirt forever 21, shoes topshop

I'm blogging at work again (shame on me) but what do you expect me to do when I'm sitting in front of a computer for four hours?! I'm bound to wander off onto blogspot and do some browsing and updating. I'm getting work done but taking a break every now and again can't hurt. I better get back to designing the web page layout I'm supposed to be working on.

Ready For Autumn Wind to Blow

Now that the fall semester has kicked in, it's getting harder and harder to find places to take outfit pictures that are completely void of people. Even in the sketchiest locations behind buildings and in alleyways, there's always someone there. That's what I get for being in college and living in a busy city. I manage to find a quiet corner on a gorgeous field where I could set up my tripod. Granted I could be seen by 3-4 people sitting about 80 feet away, but I was hardly recognizable by that point so I didn't give it much thought. I'd just look like a teeny tiny little asian girl climbing all over a brick wall and laughing to herself. Psychotic? A little.

(cardigan h&m, polka-dotted top h&m, jeans forever 21, wedges kenneth cole reaction)

I'm definitely starting to feel the fall weather already and I'm loving it! Even though it's still sunny and warm during the day, the nights are chilly and I find myself having to bring a cardigan with me everywhere, just in case. It's time to get my tights out from hiding again and start layering up. Autumn is definitely my favorite season of all (and I'm not just saying that because my birthday is in the fall). I love watching the leaves fall and hearing them crunch underneath my footsteps. I guess this is goodbye, Summer!

JennifHsieh on Auburn Not Red

Recently I wrote up a guest post on Auburn Not Red. Taylor, the blogger behind the site, is crazy busy witih planning for the Lt. Dan Weekend in her area so I thought I'd help her out. I love what she's doing for that weekend and their cause to help severely injured veterans receive the help and support that they need. If you're in the Beaufort, SC area definitely stop by and show your support. Even if you're too far to attend, you can donate online. I'll definitely be showing my support through the internet since I can't make my way down south.

Go check out my guest post and her blog! She's got some crazy awesome giveaways as well. :)

Day Three: Chictopia10 Media Tech Summit

Day Three: Chictopia10 Media Tech Summit

This past Sunday was the Chictopia10 Media Tech Summit and it was definitely an experience to remember.  After hearing not so rave reviews about last year's Chictopia event, I was a little bit hesitant to set my expectations too high.  Luckily the conference was pretty damn amazing and I really enjoyed all the panelists - there was a variety of speakers from google, twitter, modcloth, and even a handful of bloggers. The lunch was also pretty fantastic and I couldn't get enough of the pasta. I really learned a lot in terms of reaching out to your readers and branding your blog. The speakers that Chictopia invited really knew what they were talking about and had plenty to share. I have to admit though - I wasn't exactly paying attention some of the time since I wasn't too interested in taking my blog in the direction they were suggesting. I love what I'm doing with my blog right now and I'm content with keeping it as is. :)

(striped top gap, skirt urban outfitters, heart tights asos, bucket bag urban outfitters, mustache necklace the amazing ali)

My favorite part of the conference was definitely getting to meet so many amazing bloggers (many of whose blogs are my daily reads). These girls are even more amazing than I expected them to be. Being fashion bloggers, we of course camera whored ourselves and each other around NYC. My favorite shots are always the candids, especially the one above of me and Starr. I have no idea what we were talking about but I'm sure it was amusing, haha. I'm also loving the candid of Lucy from Dear Fish Vintage down below. Can I just say she's got amazing style?

The picture above of Jasmine and Chantal is one of my favorite shots I took that day. They're both so adorable and they're also down to earth, which goes for all the other bloggers I got to meet this past weekend.

It rained a little bit on Sunday (notice the umbrellas - especially Jenny's badass parasol) and the wind was a little bit crazy at times. It made for some awesome photos though. There's nothing wrong with a little bit of drizzle...well, until it gets on your camera. I used to drag around my old camera in the rain, onto the beach, you name it. It wasn't so bad at first, but in the long-run it damaged the innards of the camera body so I'm learning to be a lot more careful with my equipment.

I also got to meet Emily from Adelaide Stayed at the Chictopia conference and let me tell you, she's gorgeous in pictures and a million times more gorgeous in person! She also got lucky and won the iPad giveaway courtesy of The Find. Jealous? YES.

Another one of the many bloggers I met was Tieka from Selective Potential. She's a sweetheart and I snapped a shot of her and Jasmine. The lighting wasn't the best and I kept on forgetting to set my white balance but I'm getting better at remembering!

Well I'm gonna peace out and clock out of work (yes, I'm blogging at work). I'm meeting up with some friends for dinner and then going to shoot an event (the guy behind Texts From Last Night is speaking at Rutgers)! :)

Check back for my next post on the Juicy Couture After Party!

Day Two: Roaming the City & Emptying My Wallet

On Saturday, Jasmine and I just roamed around the city after she went to a few fashion shows in the morning. It was great not having a schedule of things to do or places to be. Our first stop was TopShop! I'm just glad the only one in the United States is only a train ride away from me! We also paid a visit to Madewell which was right next door. Can you say HEAVEN? I'm pretty sure Jasmine and I died a little bit when we walked in, and then died a little bit more when we saw the Alexa Chung for Madewell collection. We both splurged a little bit that weekend at Madewell since neither of us were very good at resisting temptation. Jenny from Fashion for Writers was also with us when we visited again Sunday evening and she snagged a blouse and some shorts! I can't wait to see how she styles them (and flood my room from drooling).

After a few more shopping stops (and delicious cupcakes from a cupcake truck - as you can see from our photos) we decided to end the day with a trip to Central Park. There's no way you can visit NYC without crossing Central Park off your list. We awkwardly snapped some outfit photos while getting some strange looks from passerbyers. There was a gorgeous white bridge which made for the perfect setting.

(top zara, shorts h&m, sandals urban outfitters)

As the sun was setting we sat down for some delicious burgers and chips (with homemade guacamole, yum) at a small outdoor cafe. We got there at the perfect time since they started to close down once the sun set. Then being the weaklings that we are, we headed on back to my apartment.

Check back for Day 3 (Chictopia10 Media Tech Summit!)! :)

Day One: Dynamic Duo United

It's still hard for me to believe that these Dynamic Duo photos aren't photoshopped. As I'm typing this Jasmine is actually just a few feet away updating her blog as well. It still feels surreal but I know once she leaves I'm going to feel weird not having her there. And now I'm just starting to feel a little creepy writing about her when she's right here. It definitely feels like I've known her for years and we're just casually meeting up to hang out. :P

These pictures were taken on Friday on campus after I picked her up from the airport and she got to drop off her luggage at my apartment. My friend tagged along so we enslaved him as our photographer for a bit. We accidentally ended up with inverse outfits that day; I had chambray on the top and she had chambray on the bottom. (And how adorable are her oxfords?) I know you guys love the second picture where we're doing the standard blogger pose.

(on me: cardigan american eagle, shirt dress h&m, skirt nyc boutique, belt forever 21, wedges seychelles)

So after taking these photos, Jasmine took off for NYC to see a few fashion shows while I headed off to class and then a few hours of work. We were able to meet up again in the evening with Jenny from Fashion for Writers! We got this extremely awesome Brazilian guy to take our photos. Jenny noticed he had a DSLR so we figured he'd know what he was doing with my camera...and turns out he did!

I can't wait to show you guys pictures from the rest of the weekend. I'm so exhausted and my feet are twitching with pain but it was so worth it. Get ready for a whole bunch of pictures; you guys will be doing a whole lot of scrolling! It's Jasmine's last night here before she boards for the airport early tomorrow morning. We'll probably do some late night photo exchanging and bonding...or we'll both just pass out. I actually have homework I need to get done for class at noon today. Time to snap back into reality!

Sponsor Feature: All That Lace

So while I'm frolicking and throwing away my money in NYC this weekend, I just wanted to give a quick shout out to one of my sponsors, All That Lace. Debbie, the girl behind the etsy, is one of the sweetest people I've had the chance to get to know in the blogging world and she definitely knows how to pick out some of the best (and most unique) vintage finds (such as the bag shown above).

I picked a few of my other favorites from her store, including this green patterned top, a floral crop top (how perfect is it for the fall?) and my favorite...the coral oversized blouse shown below! The best thing about these tops? They're part of All That Lace's Monday Markdown sale so they're only $9 each! These leopard shorts are also pretty killer with the high waist and baggy legs.

Don't forget you can also get 20% off by using the code "JENNIFHSIEH"! :)

Stop & Rewind

These outfit shots are from over the summer and for one reason or another I never decided to post them. But luckily they come in handy for days like today where I'm way too busy to take pictures since I'm running around all over the place. I'm actually trying to get homework done early for a change, mainly because I won't have time once I kick into NYFW mode starting at 5am tomorrow and lasting until 8am on Monday. I can't believe Jasmine will be here in less than 24 hours! It's still a little bit surreal.

(anchor printed dress target, belt forever 21, cardigan h&m, flip-flops old navy

Oh, and some of you probably noticed I'm wearing cheap flip-flops in these pictures. I was in such a rush to get out the door I just slipped them on and didn't realize them until I took the pictures. But hey, what's wrong with bargain flip-flops at Old Navy? In my defense, the dress I'm wearing is meant to be a beach cover-up so maybe I was just set on beach-mode. :P

Oh! One last thing, if any of you bloggers are going to be at NYFW this weekend (or the Chictopia Conference on Sunday) shoot me an email! I want to meet all of you! <3
