SLIDER

JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

But You're Still the Same

Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), Striped Midi Dress c/o LuLu*s (similar), Two-Toned Tote Bag c/o Chicnova (similar), Mesh Peep-Toe Bootie c/o LuLu*s

Astoria is filled with so many restaurants, bars, stores, and good times all around that I can never make up my indecisive mind when it's time to step outside of my apartment. I'm pretty sure my list of places to eat is already past the 100-mark; why do they all have to be so damn delicious? Not really a problem though, right? Just kidding, it's a problem. Mayday, mayday!

Jeremy and I had a small Housewarming yesterday which gave us even more opportunities to explore Astoria. The best part of it all though was most definitely the brunch afterward. We dropped by Queen's Comfort and I've literally never had a brunch as orgasmic as this one. Two words: Disco Tots.

P.S. Also, can you talk about a desperate need for a bang trim? Good thing I got one this past weekend from a guy named Dragon. Dragon.

I haven't had some good ol' pattern mixing lately, so here I am trying to make up for it. Because apparently now there's some kind of pattern mixing quota up in my head. Also, because pattern mixing kicks major ass.

Also, I need to stop blogging so early in the morning. My brain is barely functioning at this time of day so 90% of the time I have no idea what I'm spewing out of my brain and onto this blog. Also, please bear with the cheesiness of this post title.

Happy, Wednesday!

Believe in Taking Chances

Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), Gap Striped Top (similar), Yellow Midi Skirt c/o LuLu*s, Aldo Black Oxford Wedges (similar),  Black Bag c/o OASAP (similar)

I'm up and at 'em already and the sun still has a few more hours of sleep before it has to groggily wake the rest of the world up. I have a huge photo shoot today for work and we're getting an early start in order to catch the morning light. Going to be an exhausting day but fun nevertheless since I'm working with a sick nasty team. That's right - sick nasty. I feel like I'm an old fart trying to sound cool or something. Jeez.

Also, I just spent a good ten minutes trying to decide if I should wear my hair up or down. I finally settled on up but now, as I'm typing this, I'm thinking I should wear it down. Damn my indecision. Down it is. Betcha it'll be up again before I walk out my door.

Let Me Come Home

Urban Outfitters Waffle Cardigan (similar), Zara Beige Tee (similar), Levi's 501 Boyfriend Jeans (similar), Tan Sandals c/o LuLu*s, Glasses c/o Firmoo

I realize I very rarely take pictures inside my childhood home in Jersey now that I'm older. Not like it's a requirement or anything, but it's nice capturing my home at different stages in my life. I definitely did when I was going through puberty and when I was stuck in my "let's-take-pictures-of-everything-in-twenty-different-ways" stage. Oh, and don't get my started on that MySpace phase. Selfies galore. But don't lie, you were guilty of it too.

Also, this is one of those rare posts where you see me in glasses. This is actually a new pair, thanks to Firmoo, since Jeremy accidentally stepped on my glasses a few months ago (granted, it was my fault putting them on the floor). Since I'm not too careful with my belongings, I always opt for choosing frames on the cheaper side and Firmoo always has my back. Not to mention the fact that your first pair is free. What up. Now I'm just tempted to try a crazier pair since I always go for glasses that have a similar look. Red frames, anyone?!

I'll Always Be So Still

I spent this past weekend back at home in New Jersey with my family and it's been so good for my stress recently. There's something about just being back in the house where I grew up for the majority of my life and just waking up in my oh-so-familiar bedroom. It's as if I'm completely removed from my life in the city, which is so necessary from time to time.

Also, can we talk about the fact that's it's September? I know, it's been September for a while now but it's only actually kicking in now as I'm typing this because, for some reason, I take a longer time than most people to process things happening. September, you guys.

Lust: Transitional Autumn Pieces

1. Buffalo Jeans Katya Dress
2.Madewell Gold Ring
3. Madewell Ribbed Beanie
5. Buffalo Jeans Brittie Sweater
6. ASOS Backpack
7. H&M Boots

Now that Labor Day weekend is over, it's starting to hit me that fall is right around the corner and sooner or later the days will get chillier and my sleeves will start to get longer. I'm still stuck in that awkward place though where I still want to dress like it's 90 degrees out but also want to cozy up in giant sweaters with a cup of coffee. So to make both sides of me happy, I'm window shopping for some more transitional pieces between seasons. Actually, I guess I already kind of dress for transitional weather since it's still scorching hot outside but as cold as winter in my office with the AC on.

Ahead of the game. Do you guys have any tips for in-between season dressing?

An Escape in Vermont

Madewell White V-Neck (similar), Urban Outfitters High-Rise Destroyed Denim Shorts (similar), Tan Sandals c/o LuLu*s, Victoria's Secret Bikini Top (similar)

Labor Day weekend ended a bit too soon and September is already hitting me hard in the face. It was so nice being entirely surrounded by nature for the past few days with nothing to worry about except for the bug bites slowly accumulating on my body and the issue of finishing the food we collectively bought too much of. The house we rented from airBNB was the cutest thing ever and stocked with every possible necessity we ended up needing during our entire stay. And can we talk about the fact that there was a hot tub? There will definitely be a next time, but hopefully for a bit longer than just a three-day weekend.

What were you guys up to over the weekend?
