Rompin' Around + Tequila Evenings

H&M Red Romper (similar, similar), Joe Fresh Faux Leather Moto Jacket (similar), Black Combat Boots c/o LuLu*s (similar)

Sometimes you just need to drown yourself in tequila on a weekday night.

And then sometimes you really don't but you do anyway because it's free, which is exactly what happened to me and Jeremy this past Monday. Santera Tequila officially launched earlier this week and, if you don't know me, I love myself some tequila. It's been my best friend and my worst enemy for the past few years, usually at exactly the same time. Santera definitely didn't disappoint with some beautifully mixed margaritas and delicious appetizers being served around the room. At one point, one of the servers appeared next to me and went, "Now I know you want one of these." Part of me felt judged, but the larger (more important) part of me realized that she was probably one of my true, great loves and that I should just take two mini-tacos for myself. So thank you, Santera, for a great experience with your tequila. I thank you from the bottom of my stomach.

A Weekend in Westhampton

Kimchi Blue Pink Fit + Flare Dress, Urban Outfitters Oatmeal Cropped Sweater (similar)Volcom Olive Green Hat c/o LuLu*s (similar)

This past weekend a few friends and I made the relatively short drive out to Westhampton Beach for a quick getaway from the city. Just driving out of New York City and hearing the sounds of the city slowly fading away is one of the most therapeutic experiences. Don't get me wrong; sometimes it's hard to sleep without hearing the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, but at the same time we all need a break from too much of anything.

Westhampton was every bit as beautiful as I thought it would be, from the stunning white beaches to the sunsets over the bay. The one thing I should have been a little more prepared for was the cost of living in the area; I paid one too many dollars for my lunches and those small boutiques definitely carry heavy price tags. But the amount of dogs and puppies being led around by their most likely wealthier owners made up for everything. I pet every single one of them (or imagined petting them in my head, if distance kept us apart).

Stubborn Transition + Pumpkin Pie

H&M Palm Leaf Dress (similar, similar), Urban Outfitters Long Knit Cardigan (similar), House of Harlow 1960 Arabella Boots (similar), Urban Outfitters Black Textured Mini-Backpack (similar)

I absolutely love that it's sweater weather and that I can whip out huge, knit cardigans like this one. But at the same time, I'm 100% not ready to let go of summer so I'm going to keep wearing all of my obnoxiously summer-themed dresses to keep the season alive. It's the motherfucking transitional period so I'm going to take my time before I dive head first into pumpkin-themed everything (mainly pie, because PIE).

Actually, maybe I'll at least start on pumpkin pie because now that I'm thinking of it, I'm starting to get an insatiable craving for it. I'm sure summer won't mind at all.

Transitional Pieces + Being a Loaf

Forever 21 Black Turtleneck Crop Top (similar, similar), White Plaid Pleated Skirt c/o LuLu*s (similar), Amour Vert Gray Bomber Jacket (similar, similar)Urban Outfitters Black Suede Crossbody (similar), Madewell Black Suede Sandals (similar, similar)

This past weekend I'm pretty sure all I did was eat, drink, and watch Netflix. The only thing that makes this slightly more acceptable is that I did all three in the company of friends who were just as okay with it as I was. Now I'm starting off the week feeling like a loaf (mentally and physically) and planning on being just slightly more productive this week before I spend this upcoming weekend squeezing in an end-of-summer getaway in East Hampton.

Summer, stick around just a few more days so I can bask in the glory of the sun on a beautiful beach this weekend without freezing my butt off. Please, please, please.

A Fancier (but Not Classier) Jen

Ivory and Black Two-Piece Set c/o LuLu*s (similar, similar), Love Culture Suede Ankle Strap Wedges (similar), Bryant Clutch in Creme c/o Brahmin (buy exact here, similar)Triangle Ring and Heartbeat Ring c/o Happiness Boutique

I snagged this two-piece set last Thursday at LuLu's Style Studio and I couldn't look more like the heart-eye emoji when I'm wearing it. It's seriously my new favorite item in my closet and, not to sound like a typical fashion magazine, but it can be worn SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS. But for now, I'm going to wear it the way nature (aka the manufacturers) intended it to be worn. Admittedly, I don't always look so fancy or casually wander onto rooftops in heels...but sometimes you just have to because it feels so right.

The photo below is Exhibit A in just how right it felt.

A Day Trip to Governor's Island

Urban Outfitters Gray Crop Top (similar), Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), Levi's Corduroy Shorts (similar)Triangle Ring and Heartbeat Ring c/o Happiness Boutique

For Labor Day weekend, Jeremy and I wanted to fill it up with little mini-day trips throughout the New York City area. On Saturday we made our way to North Jersey to spend the day lounging by the lakeside on our friend's boat. The next day found us barbecuing with Jeremy's family, and then on Monday we finally decided to check out Governor's Island, which has been on my list for years. The best part about visiting Governor's Island is that it's only accessible by ferry, so we got to indulge ourselves in an hour-long adventure along the East River. I'm all about that boat life, so I was grinning ear-to-ear just feeling that river breeze.

When we docked on Governor's Island, after grabbing some quick hot dogs, we jumped on a pair of Citibikes and started to explore the island. Back in the day, it used to be a United States Army post and then, for a shorter period of time, served as a major United States Coast Guard installation. Now the majority of the island is a public park, part of the borough of Manhattan, and it's covered with art installations and bike riders. Couldn't think of a better way just to enjoy the beautiful weather we've been having lately and taking it easy before I kicked off my week of funemployment (which is going great, let me tell you).

Onto the Next Adventure

Urban Outfitters Boyfriend Plaid Shirt (similar, similar), H&M Striped T-Shirt (similar)H&M Gray Skirt (similar), Triangle Ring and Heartbeat Ring c/o Happiness Boutique, Urban Outfitters Textured Mini-Backpack (similar), Urban Outfitters Leyla Sandals in Black

Today is "Day 1" of my weeklong fun-employed adventure. I recently quit my job in lieu for a new opportunity and it was such a bittersweet experience leaving a place full of people I loved working with so much. But after three years, it was definitely time to embark on a new adventure. But, until then, I'm indulging myself with a week of funemployment.

I contemplated going on a solo trip to somewhere full of beaches, sunshine, and frozen margaritas; then I reminded myself that it's also a week of being unpaid. So, instead, I filled my week with a giant to-do list of things I've never gotten around to as well as overdue doctor's appointments. Damn those responsibilities, na'mean?
