SLIDER

JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

It's Only Up We Go

Navy Obey Sweatshirt c/o LuLu*s, Forever 21 Beige Coat (similar), Olive Green Pants c/o LuLu*s (similar), Gabriella Rocha Taupe Booties (similar)

I've been doing a lot of traveling back-and-forth between my parent's house in New Jersey and my apartment in Astoria the past few days. This has led me to abandon dresses and skirts in favor of comfy sweatshirts and loose fitting pants. Both of these also support the abundance of pies I've been eating during the holidays.

Now I'm finally back in Astoria for good and I'm spending the next day prepping for our upcoming New Years Eve celebrations. I'm pretty pumped for our small gathering which will be...Star Wars themed. And yes, you bet there will be plenty of pictures to come.

Now if I can convince Jeremy to invest in a disco ball that I can transform into a death star. Dream big, right?

This Time I'm Feeling a Change

Green Sweater Coat c/o Sheinside (similar), American Apparel Gray Tank (similar), Levi's 501 Boyfriend Jeans, Gabriella Rocha Taupe Booties (similar), Shoemint Crossbody Canvas Satchel, H&M Thin Gold Rings (similar)

It's almost the start of yet another year and for once I'm a little reluctant to make goals or resolutions. It's not because I regret committing to the ones I couldn't cross off my list (because I'm so insanely proud of the ones with a big fat check mark next to them that the ones left behind don't even matter); it's more so that the older I get, and the more my priorities and circumstances change, I realize that everything starts with your internal self and those are the things actually worth changing to get to the places you eventually want to be.

Resolutions and goals you set won't matter months down the road. Heck, sometimes not even days down the road. So fuck it, na'mean?

...that doesn't mean I won't be writing some down anyway just because it's still fun to see how dramatically your mindset can change in merely 365 days.

Come on, 2015, show me whatchu got.

Coconut Custard Christmas Coma

Western Dress c/o Levi's, Olive Nottingham Sweater c/o For Elyse, Lattice Shaping Tights c/o Silkies, Forever 21 Brown Wrap Coat, Stars Duffel Bag c/o Surfdome, Black Combat Boots c/o LuLu*s

I've had one too many slices of coconut custard pie today. I fell asleep last night cuddling an empty plate, upon which a slice once sat, but not for very long. I woke up, had breakfast, then helped myself to another slice. Then I ended lunch in a similar fashion. Then...then those afternoon hangry feelings came about and as I made my way down to the kitchen the pie was all like "I've been waiting for you." Is this what true love feels like?

Most likely.

The Most Epic of Bums

Forever 21 Dolman Brown Wrap Coat (similar, similar), Urban Outfitters Cropped Oatmeal Sweater (similar), Orange Dress c/o LuLu*s (similar), Lattice Shaping Tights c/o Silkies, Black Combat Boots c/o LuLu*s, Orange Plaid Scarf c/o Persun Mall (similar)

Ever since stepping foot in my parent's house yesterday, I've become the most epic of bums (and I'm not talking about the butt kind of bum). Eating numerous times a day? Check. Staying in the same pair of PJ's for 24 hours? Check. Watching hours of Saturday Night Live clips and cackling to myself? Check. Sleeping three times my normal amount? Check. Listen to numerous Serial theme song remixes? Absolutely.

Now about all those things I was supposed to be doing in order to be productive this break...not so much. I mean, who really wants to go shopping for last minute holiday gifts when the malls are going to be filled up to the brim with humanity. Sounds exasperating.

Now excuse me, there's a few more hours of Netfix calling out my name and beckoning me over to the empty spot on the bed. Enjoy the holidays, everyone! :)

Diving Into the Holidays

Green Plaid Coat c/o StyleMoi (similar), Madewell Textureworks Sweater, White Skater Skirt c/o LuLu*s, ASOS Thigh High Socks, Black Flats c/o LuLu*s (similar)Forever 21 Earmuffs (similar)

I've got a pretty easy two-day week at work and then I'll be full on diving into the holidays. Can I get a "What, what?!" My family doesn't really celebrate much of the holidays but I just can't wait to be home either way. It's going to be glorious. GLORIOUS.

I still have to finish up some last-minute holiday shopping, mostly for Jeremy's family, but I will prevail. It's mostly wrapping everything, which is usually my favorite part, so I don't mind too much. Give me some christmas cookies and milk on the side and I'll be all set for a good night.

Adventures at Sleep No More

Forever 21 Beige Short Coat, Urban Outfitters Cropped Oatmeal Sweater (similar)Gardenia Dress c/o For Elyse, Back Seam Tights c/o Wolford, ASOS Thigh-High Socks, Black Heeled Boots c/o LuLu*s, Shoemint Beige Canvas Crossbody Purse

As a belated birthday present, my two best friends from college surprised me with a trip to Sleep No More, and I'm still in awe of the whole experience. Holy crap, you guys. Incredible.

Sleep No more is an immersive and interactive theatre production in an entire hotel where you can run around and choose which scenes you want to watch and which characters you want to follow, all leading to one greater story. It was terrifying and beautiful and I got lost in their world within seconds. But don't worry, I was still able to sleep when I got home last night. Definitely a recommendation if you guys are ever in Manhattan and looking for a different way to spend your evening. And if you go, please take me again because I could go a million more times. Thanks.

This gift guide may or may not be based off of my own man back at home. But in risk of him thinking he's going to get all this swag for the holidays, it's not based off him at all. Well, except for all the Star Wars goodies. 3. Geekcook NexTep Bag
4. Bar III Carnaby Collection Slim-Fit Polka Dot Dress Shirt
5. East Dane Power Bank

A shout out to my friend Nikki who personally asked for a Couch Potato gift guide. Now all you need is one of these items and a subscription to Netflix to seal the deal. Although I'm not sure why you'd be sealing the deal with a friend...but I'm not going to ask any questions.

3. J.Crew Vintage Pajama Set
4. H&M Woven Throw

A Sea of Navy Blue

Navy Blazer Coat c/o Style Moi, Obey Sweatshirt c/o LuLu*s, Madewell Chambray Shirt, Forever 21 Jeans (similar), Jackie Boots c/o Blowfish Shoes (old) (similar), H&M Navy Polka Dot Cap (similar)

I've finally accepted the lack of fall all up in my life. The wind chills are down to freezing temperatures and mittens are becoming a staple in my daily outfits. But I won't go out without a fight - and by fight, I mean one last outfit post where I'm throwing leaves into the air to make it look like they're casually falling by themselves from their branches but everyone knows I just tossed them up there because my arms are obviously still on their way down from their throwing position.

But whatever.

Pastel Music to My Ears

Forever 21 Beige Coat (similar), Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), American Apparel Lavender Babydoll Dress (similar), Fleece-Lined Tights c/o Silkies, Black Lace-Up Boots c/o LuLu*s, Aldo Backpack (similar), Peach Floral Headphones c/o Ankit

News Alert: I finally have my own pair of headphones. Jeremy is glad. I am glad. Everyone is glad.

But seriously, how beautiful are these bad boys? When I wear them around the city I'm pretty sure I walk with an extra ounce of swagger but that might also be in my own imagination. In terms of quality, they're not at the same level as those super expensive professional headphones and the product build is average. But for the lower price range and the breathtaking design, definitely worth it for an "everyday" pair. In terms of sound, it has a prominent bass as well.

But anyway, I'm going to go back to swooning over the pastel colors. Sometimes, even when my music stops playing, I still keep them on because like, look at 'em.
