I Will Give Myself Up

H&M White Crop Top (similar), Black Maxi Skirt (similar), Report Black Sandals c/o LuLu*s, Aldo Backpack (similar)

Whenever I'm approaching a new beginning, I always start to fall back into the past. I always fall into the trap of thinking too long and too hard about all the memories that got me to the place I'm at now. The place that will end up being my future. I know I have the tendency to let the past weigh down on me more than it should, but I assign it so much meaning that I can't help but get lost in it from time to time. It's not really the memories, actually. It's more so just hard for me to let go of the emotions that came along with them.

This Thursday is the big move and I couldn't be more excited or more nervous for this next chapter in my life. All the pieces are slowly falling together and hopefully when I wake tomorrow I'll let the past fall behind.

Conclusion to This Illusion

This past weekend the lovely Jasmine was in the city and we were able to spend Saturday together exploring the beauty that is Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. If you've been following my blog for a really long time, you might remember that we used to style up the same pieces from time to time as the Dynamic Duo. The last time we did a post was almost two years ago, actually. Man, how time flies.

She's put a hold on blogging for now, but we still remained close friends, which is one of my favorite things about blogging: the people you meet. We did a shit ton of eating, which was balanced out by a shit ton of walking, which resulted in us becoming physically exhausted and unable to hit the bars that night. But you guys, no regrets at all. None.

The Hudson Project Diaries: Day 3

Urban Outfitters Black Crop Top (similar), Vintage Patterned Shirt c/o Platinum & Rust (more), Urban Outfitters High Waisted Button Shorts (similar)

So remember how I mentioned it rained during Big Gigantic's Saturday night performance? And how incredibly amazing it was? Jeremy's vintage tent (passed down from his dad) didn't agree quite so much as it was partially flooded by the time we got back to the campgrounds. Old tents weren't built with tarp bases so the water happily made itself at home. We managed to use our blankets to create a "dry" foundation and luckily I had this shirt to use as a blanket. And boy, it was one hell of a warm blanket, surprisingly.

This shirt is actually gifted from Leah of Platinum & Rust, a really cute online, vintage boutique. I'm usually a little reluctant to trust the fit of vintage pieces, but she's got some solid picks and this one caught my eye right off the bat (I mean, I guess it's hard not to notice it with those bright ass colors). I guess you could call them jewel tones? Definitely going to transition well into the fall months.

Go check out her store and take advantage of the 20% off discount using the code "JEN". I'm already tempted to be a tool and use it myself for these babin' shorts. Or these. Wait...is babin' a word?

But anyway, the last day of Hudson, despite having gotten a pretty damp sleep, was really relaxing and luckily we were planning on leaving the festival early anyway so we missed the entire drama that was the "Mudson Project". All in all, it was a really awesome time and I can see myself wanting to go again next year...even with all the mud. 2015, bring it on!

The Hudson Project Diaries: Day 2

H&M Sporty Crop Top (similar), Urban Outfitters High-waisted Denim Shorts (similar), Studded Black Boots c/o YesStyle (similar), Forever 21 Blue Polka Dotted Bikini Top (similar)

The second day was definitely my absolute favorite (it usually is, actually, come to think of it). It was a pretty chill day with a few bands I had added to my list that I got to know in recent months. But then the night, you guys. The night.

After a really incredible performance by Bonobo, we danced our way over to Big Gigantic and once they started playing the rain started pouring and, combined with all the sweaty bodies and the incredible light show, it was just absolutely perfect in so many ways. So many good vibes. Too many good vibes. Oh, and ending the last song with fireworks? They made a perfect show even more perfect.

P.S. The mud on my shorts are courtesy of the girl who splashed me with her flip-flops and didn't bother to apologies. You are the worst.

The Hudson Project Diaries: Day 1

Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), H&M Polka Dot Tank (similar), American Apparel Pink High-Waisted Shorts (similar), Studded Boots c/o YesStyle (similar)

I'm finally back into the swing of things after spending this past weekend at the Hudson Music Project festival. I had such a fun time, even with it being so much smaller than the size of Bonnaroo. In some ways, it made it even better since everything was less crowded and there was a more intimate feel during some of the performances.

Day One was pretty chill overall, catching performances by Modest Mouse and The Flaming Lips. There were a few other shows but The Flaming Lips definitely took the cake for fucking craziest stage set-up. At some points I couldn't tell what was real or what I was imagining. So sick.

Pathetically though, I was so exhausted from the long day of travel and sun that I could barely stay awake past midnight. Lame? Most definitely. But sometimes you just need to give in to your body and rest up.

Off to Hudson Music Project

Polka Dot Top (similar), Black Dress c/o LuLu*sAldo Backpack (similar), Tan and Black Heels c/o LuLu*s (similar)

I got to sleep in an extra 30 minutes today (hey, every minute counts) since I'm taking a three-day weekend to travel up to the Hudson Music Project. You guys, I'm so pumped. It's their first year as a festival and it's definitely going to be a much, much, much smaller crowd than Bonnaroo, which will be cool to experience.

Holler if you're going to be there (or don't, it's fine). Otherwise, follow along on my Instagram (or don't, it's fine). <3 p="">

Apartment Lust

Now that I'm currently apartment hunting with Jeremy,  I am craving a clean, new space to make all our own. It's different living with roommates and mixing and matching everyone's things. With Jeremy it'll be nice decorating a place together to make it feel like home for both of us. A place that feels like us.

I think Jeremy's a little sick of me showing him all the interior inspiration I'm pinning (actually, I know he's sick of it) but I just can't help myself. We just put in an application for a really tiny apartment so I keep looking up ways to make a small space seem spacious - it's going to be a serious struggle. I've recently been loving the Urbanara catalogues for bedroom and living room inspiration. They specialize in homeware which is something I don't mind splurging a bit on for quality pieces that'll last me for years. Most of their pieces are classic and timeless, which is great since I don't want to go too crazy.

My goal is to keep everything super simple and stop hoarding so many things (it's hard for me to let go of things with memories tied to them - also known as everything). I read somewhere that having a lot of reflective surfaces and white furniture allows the space to seem less cluttered so you know I'll be hitting up the whites. The main thing I'm going to have to cut down on are my clothes, since apparently Jeremy needs closet space too. Who knew.

But in the meantime, let me just drop these images I'm lusting after right here (I'm going to be investing in a lot of throws, obviously).

All images c/o Urbanara.

Hurley Tank Top (similar), American Apparel Pink High-Waisted Shorts (similar), Converse Grey Sneakers (similar), Reversible Tote c/o LuLu*s

This has pretty much been the perfect long weekend. Lots of good eats, mornings spent sleeping in, squeezing in small workouts, an appropriate amount of boozin', and exploring new neighborhoods in the city. I'm so content right now.

What were you guys up to this weekend?
