Icelandic Road Trip Diaries: Arriving in Reykjavik

Joe Fresh Faux Leather Jacket (similar), Oversized Plaid Shirt c/o Sheinside (similar), Levi's Denim Leggings (similar), Timberland Authentics in Dark Burgundy

I'm finally catching up with life after my trip to Iceland and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it over the next few days while I take a break from outfit pictures and spend twice as much time cuddling with Bubba

Ten of us took a super quick red eye from Boston through WOW Airlines (which has insanely cheap flights to Iceland from various locations) and I couldn't recommend them more, especially if all you care about is getting to and from your destination. Our goal for the trip was to road trip around the entire country, along the ring road, in only six days. And dude, we had ten people. TEN FUCKING PEOPLE squished into two cars. But lo and behold, we managed to do it without driving each other up the wall (or mountains, I should say, since we spent more time outdoors than indoors).

The first day we were incredibly jet lagged due to the timing of the flight so we spent the thirty-something hours we were awake exploring Reykjavik. We had to make all the mandatory tourist stops, including The Sun Voyager (pictured in the first three photographs) and a quick peek inside the Harpa conference center/concert hall for the insane architecture (above). Never have hexagons been so enchanting, let me tell you.

Next, we slowly made our way up to Hallgrímskirkja, which is the largest church in Iceland which was built to resemble the basalt lava flows found throughout the country's landscape. So much of Icelandic culture revolves around really embracing the land they make a living off of, and it's amazing to see that strong connection.

We didn't make it to the observation tower at the top of Hallgrímskirkja, but to make up for it we stopped by Perlan, which is a building known for having incredible views of the whole city. It sure didn't disappoint, let me tell you, and I was never more thankful for my selfie stick. No shame in my game. By the time we headed back to our airBNB hostel for the night, it was already closing in on midnight but, since it never gets completely dark during Icelandic summers, we didn't even realize until we got back.

If you guys have any questions throughout my Icelandic diary, feel free to shoot them over in the comments!

P.S. Most importantly, this is the day I also tried puffin, whale, and reindeer. And yes...the whale had such an aftertaste of guilt. So much guilt.

Sunday Funday to the Max

Gap Denim Overall Shorts (similar), Timing Sunday Funday Crop Top (similar, similar), Tan Buckle Sandals c/o LuLu*s (similar, similar)

I bought two pairs of overalls this past weekend and I couldn't be more pleased with myself. Jeremy isn't a big fan of this pair since he claims they make me look like I'm about to head to a shift at the farm. But you know what? I will happily milk those cows and collect those eggs if it means I get to wear these bad boys.

The second pair, not shown, are black overalls that go all the way down to my ankles instead of cutting off like shorts. I'm going to be debuting them during my trip to Iceland in a couple of days so get ready for some OVERALL-FILLED INSTAGRAMS. Booyah.

Having these overalls in my closet are also giving me flashbacks to second grade when I used to rock some sick, dark purple, velvet overalls. Talk about a trendsetter, amirite?

That 90's Grunge Look

Graphic V-Neck Top c/o Junk Food Tees (similar), Urban Outfitters High-Waisted Shorts (similar), Oversized Red Flannel c/o Sheinside (similar), Reversible Tote Bag c/o LuLu*s (similar), Tan Buckle Sandals c/o LuLu*s (similar)

Even though I wasn't going through puberty in the 90's, I can still embrace the grungy look over a decade later. I seriously can't stop tying things around my waist. It's also a good solve when you want to wear your favorite shorts but they're just a little too short to be sauntering them around the office. A plaid shirt transformed into a butt cover. Voila!

In a week I'll be in a plane heading to Iceland and I'm so excited I can barely keep myself together. So despite how happy I am to be running around the city with my bare legs in the warmer weather, I'm pretty pumped for sweater weather to make a temporary appearance again. Iceland has been on my travel wish list for quite some time now so I'm like a giddy little girl every single time I start thinking about it again. Recently, WOW Airlines has been offering really affordable tickets to Iceland (they're a new airline that's finally offering passenger flights) with the caveat that most services are an extra charge, so a group of 10 of us decided to just go for it. We're renting two cars and driving around the entire country to experience as much as possible in 6 days. A bit of a tight squeeze but we got this.

Can't wait to share my adventures with you guys. If there's anything in particular you would like me to share from my travel (pre-, during, or post-), just shout!

Also, would love to have some guest bloggers during that time away. Email/Tweet me if you're interested! :)

Summer Time Canadian Tuxedo

Madewell Chambray Shirt (similar), Urban Outfitters High-waisted Shorts (similar), Urban Outfitters Peach Wedges (similar), Reversible Tote Bag c/o LuLu*s (similar)

I've already got the air conditioning blasting and I'm pretty sure summer is like, "I'm gonna let you finish, spring, but summer is the best season of all time." Didn't spring just get here? My eyes definitely think so with the constant barrage of allergies attacking them at all times of the day. I'm not too upset about summer's quick arrival though. The city really reaches it's full potential during the warmer months when all the restaurants open up their outdoor patios and backyards, festivals pop up on random streets, and parks are showing outdoor movies right and left. The only painful part is being stuck indoors when you know the sun is beaming it's little heart out and you're not there to soak up all the vitamin D.

Time to draft up my summer to-do list which will end up being so long it'll be impossible to do it all. Challenge accepted.

Sundays Were Made For Naps

Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), Urban Outfitters Loose Black Top (similar), H&M Rust Wide-leg Trousers, Black Flats c/o LuLu*s (similar)

Today was the laziest day I've had in a long time and I'm enjoying every second of it. I woke up with a mild hangover, the kind that you just quickly sleep off, and then plopped myself back into bed and continued sleeping some more. Then I woke up, watched a bunch of episodes of 30 Rock, and then took yet another nap. Then Jeremy and I took advantage of the incredible weather and headed over to the nearby sculpture park to take, you guessed it, ONE MORE NAP. And now I'm about to smush my face in some takeout chinese food to pregame my bedtime. This Sunday is so exciting I could shout from the rooftops but I won't because I'm stuck in my napping position.

From Cherry Blossoms to Brick Walls

Another weekend is here, which means another few days to rest my eyes from the glare of my tiny laptop screen. My favorite days at work are always the ones where we travel to an off-site location; looking at beautiful apartments and cozy lakes are definitely a sight for (literally) sore eyes.

I've got solid plans to take advantage of the spring weather this weekend. From catching up with friends over brunch, stuffing myself full of hot pot, drunkenly watching baseball, to introducing friends to Bubba (the obsession that never ends), it's going to be a busy couple of days. Now to find a way to  squeeze in room for the dreaded laundry.
