3/15: Reaching the End

So I know this gingham shirt wasn't on my original 15 for 15 list but I couldn't resist adding it in. I'm just going to pretend like my two coats are just one item since the only reason I added them in was because it's too cold not to wear a coat. Forgive me for cheating a little? I fell in love with it when I saw it and I couldn't not pick it up. I wanted a gingham shirt for the longest time anyway and this one had a subtle enough color.

I'm still in denial that tomorrow is New Year's Eve and that starting Sunday it'll be 2012. I'm definitely not ready for the new year. I still remember my list of 2011 goals from last year (found on this blog post) and I haven't completed it yet. There's definitely not a chance that it'll be completed by the end of tomorrow. At least I managed to do the one thing that was most important to me on the list - figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. This next year is going to be a crazy ride - from graduating college, being twenty-one for a full year, finding a job, to moving out of my house...so much is going to happen and so much is going to change. I have no idea what to expect but I can't wait to find out.

Happy New Year to everyone and I hope you go wild (but not too wild) celebrating! :)

2/15: Fire Around the Rim

One of my favorite parts about being home is actually not having a photographer and having lots of time on my hands. I took my old tripod out for a spin and went to one of my favorite spots for self-portraits. I took pictures here a little over a year ago in this post. This time I caught the sun as it was setting and positioned myself in front of it for the red-orange glow. Taking self-portraits for my blog is always really therapeutic for some reason. It gives me a chance to practice my photography and also spend some time alone and away from my usually busy and hectic life.

I'm heading into the city later tonight to meet up with two of my friends and I'm pretty excited. I haven't really been into the city since New York Fashion Week in September with Jasmine and I have to say I'm missing it a little. I'm gonna stuff myself full of Magnolia cupcakes and maybe get a little too happy at happy hour. ;)

1/15: Almost Undamaged

Let the 15 for 15 challenge commence! I took these pictures right outside of my dorm before I packed up and went home for winter break. Although there's not much sunlight, I still love this time of day when it comes to taking photos since the lighting always seems magical (especially with the artificial light from the stores).

I spent my Christmas at home with my family - we all minded our own business since we don't really do anything special for the holidays. It's just another normal day at the Hsieh residence. It was still nice just being home though and having my family close by. After dinner my mom and I watched The King's Speech and I have to say, the cast is fantastic. I know, I know, I'm way behind when it comes to movies. I've got a long list of movies to watch over break and TV shows to catch up on. Too bad I packed my break full of things to do so I won't have a spare moment to breathe - but then again, that's just the way I like it sometimes. :)

How did you guys celebrate the Holidays?

15 for 15: Winter Edition

One of my readers, Judy, emailed me the other day asking if I was going to do another 15 for 15. The thought hasn't even crossed my mind recently but when she mentioned it I decided that Winter Break would be the perfect time to a 15 for 15, especially since it'll make packing to go home a lot easier. I picked out a lot of neutrals (what else is new) but then added in some pops of color with two of my skirts. I didn't include pictures of my shoes or my coats but you guys will see them soon enough.

For those of you who weren't around for my first 15 for 15, it's basically a shorter version of Kendi's 30 for 30 experiment where she only wore 30 pieces from her closet for 30 days. So, for the next 15 days, I'll only be wearing everything listed above (aside from accessories). Wish me luck and feel free to leave me some suggestions for how to pair everything!

Oh, and of course Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays and resting up this weekend. :)

Winter Lust

Sources 1/2/3/4/5/6/7

Lately my roommate has gotten me addicted to Pinterest and I can't stay off of it! It's especially handy when it comes to procrastinating on studying for my last final tonight. Here's a few of my winter inspirations. If you can't tell I'm craving some snow fall - usually, by this point of the year, there's at least a thin blanket of snow covering the ground. I'm really hoping for a white Christmas this weekend. Follow me on Pininterest to see more of what inspires me when it comes to seasonal holidays, room decor, style, etc. :)

Two Years Ago

So I was looking through my archives and I came across this post featuring my look from one year ago on that post date. Being busy studying for finals and wearing nothing but my pajamas, I decided to start up the "one year ago" feature where I'll post what I was wearing exactly one or two years ago on my blog.

These pictures were actually from this post two years ago. Things have changed a lot since then, including my style. When I first started my blog I was way more experimental since I didn't know exactly what my style was at the time. As you can see I wore a lot more color and patterns (and I was still silly enough to take off my coat for pictures in the freezing cold). It's always fun to look back and see what items are still in my closet. Everything I'm wearing in these pictures are actually still hanging in my closet (well, except for those shoes. I wore them out beyond repair). I should try styling that shirt up sometime to see how my style has changed.

Have any of you guys been following me long enough to remember this post? :)

Lady Liberty in Leopard

It's been hectic this past week with constant study sessions, making time for work, and finalizing a million details for the NJ Circle K District Convention in March. It's hard to juggle it all and I keep picking up one task and ending on another, entirely different task. I need someone to help me keep my head on straight! Despite all of this craziness, my boyfriend and I took a day trip to the Liberty Science Center. It's one of my all time favorite places and I have so many memories there with my family.

One of my favorites aspects of the Liberty Science Center is that you can see the NYC Skyline from the building as well as the Statue of Liberty! It's blurred out in my pictures but you can slightly make it out above my shoulder in the picture above. My second favorite part is the fact that they sell Astronaut Ice Cream in their gift store. Noms. And for those of you that have been to the Liberty Science Center, I defeated the Touch Tunnel once again. Win.

Lately I've been trying to incorporate more and more leopard print into my life (or prints in general) like I mentioned in this previous post, so I snatched up these leopard flats from Blowfish Shoes when I had the chance! They're the coziest flats in the world and I can't help but wear them around everywhere I go. Plus, it gives even the most boring outfits a little extra something (which comes in handy during finals season when all I wear are giant sweaters and jeans). Well, It's back to studying for me. Wish me luck! :)

Oh and Congratulations to Jasmine for winning the $30 Ande Monster Vintage Gift Card! Look out for an email later tonight! :)

In Your Head

It's the last day reading day before finals officially kick into full gear tomorrow. Luckily at this point I only have one final left (unfortunately, it's one of my toughest) and a final project for my Photography course which is more fun than work. I already took one final, completed one final project, and presented two twenty-page group projects. I'm definitely pooped by this point. I've been studying for the past six hours and I'm trapping myself in the student center until midnight, so four more hours to go! Thankfully my mint hot chocolate and sprinkled doughnut are keeping me sane. Nothing better than comfort food.

I actually got this skirt back in September when I attended the Modswap during NYFW! I saw the color and I immediately knew I had to pick it up - I really don't wear enough bold colors and I decided to incorporate this lovely cranberry color into my wardrobe. Emily from It Girl, Rag Doll is the original owner, so a big thank you to her for putting it up for grabs! :)

Oh! Don't forget that tomorrow (Friday) is the last day to enter the $30 Ande Monster Vintage Giveaway! Enter now! :)

Cutting it Close

I present to you my hair cut! I donated about ten inches of my hair and this is what I was left with. It's so weird washing my hair and realizing that I squeezed out too much shampoo since I have so little hair now. I've actually been itching to cut my hair this short for a really long time but I never got around to doing so - it was especially hard since I'm so attached to my long hair. Curling my hair now just makes me look like Shirley Temple (alright, I'm being a little over dramatic). I'm loving the change though and I'm getting more used to it day by day.

I have my last class of the semester today and I have my first final tomorrow evening. I'm pretty nervous since I need to do well on this exam but I can't seem to get into the studying mood. I keep staring at my notes but I'm not taking anything in. I need a better way to study all this material. I woke up today with a horrible feeling in my gut and I'm pretty sure it's from the anxiety that comes with final exams and final projects. I can't wait until all of this is over and I can just go home and be with my family. Let the countdown to winter break begin!

Starting with a Tiny Whisper

I feel like going back to bed right now but I feel wide awake. I woke up at 7:30am this morning to photograph the Big Chill, which is a 5k run/walk that my college hosts every year in the beginning of December in order to collect literally thousands of toys for children all over the state who normally wouldn't be able to afford presents for the holidays. I was stumbling out of bed when my alarm went off but the cold, morning air woke me up in seconds. I was supposed to run this year but when I was getting ready this morning I realized I don't actually own a pair of sneakers. The closest pair of shoes I have are Converse sneakers and those weren't really made for running. Guess that just shows how athletic I am.

Yesterday morning my boyfriend drove me back home to get my hair cut and I can't wait for you guys to see it in my next post! It's a drastic change (my hair has pretty much been the same since I was a sophomore in high school). But until then I think I'm going to attempt to go back to bed so I'm not exhausted later. :)
