New Beginnings

These pictures are actually back from the last day of my internship in the city but I decided to post them today since I'm just bumming around my apartment with my roommates and decorating up the place. It's so much cuter this year since we took a group trip to IKEA. We decorated our rooms and our living room with a combined budget of $150 and only spent $112 and it honest has made a world of difference. I'll do a post on my dorm decorating soon! I'm super excited about it. We're going to do some more bumming around today - more decorating, food shopping, the mall, mani/pedis, IHOP dinner, and movie night. The first day of classes is tomorrow so we might as well spend the last day of summer relaxing. :)

I'm so excited for Fashion Week next weekend! Jasmine is arriving on Thursday and it's going to be kind of epic, not gonna lie. Trips to the city, meeting other bloggers, window shopping (and some real shopping), our Dynamic Duo day...there's way too much to look forward to. Come sooner! Let me know if any of you are going to be in the NYC area next weekend - I'd love to meet up with you guys! :)

Damage Control

So now that Hurricane Irene has passed by I can leave my house again! My town received minimal damage luckily but the area near my on-campus apartment flooded, including a major highway that's currently closed off. Good thing I went home! I hope everyone else in the path of Irene stayed safe this past weekend. Be sure to check for your local Red Cross shelters to see if they could use a helping hand! :)

I'm obviously way too excited in these pictures. My roommate, Monisha, who was the photographer here, always tells me to do something different instead of the same boring poses. Apparently when I hear different I automatically jump up and start prancing around like a wild animal.

Oh, and I have an interview up at Smashion.com so definitely check it out to learn some fun facts about me. :)

Come At Me, Irene!

I've officially, completely moved in to my on-campus apartment! I've still gotta transfer a few things over but otherwise I'm all set. It's been nice being back with my roommates and outfit pictures are a lot more exciting now that I have Monisha, one of my two photographers, back in my life. No more outfit pictures right outside my house in the same exact spot day after day! I was obviously so excited about it that I went a little crazy in these pictures.

It's currently almost pitch black outside and it's a little bit frightening hearing the rain coming down. I'm directly in the path of Hurricane Irene and I'm pretty sure in a few hours shit is gonna get a little crazy. I'm not entirely sure what to expect and I think I'm underestimating how bad it's going to be. I decided to go home for the Hurricane - otherwise I'd be in my dorm alone, sitting in bed, peering out the window, and looking at my empty fridge. I told my mom I was going to venture out into the hurricane with my camera and she told me I was stupid (and as usual, momma knows best).

I've charged up my phone, my laptop, and I've got plenty of reading material lined up (including all the Harry Potter books, YES). Bring it on, Irene! BRING IT ON! To everyone in Irene's path, please stay safe and stay indoors! :)

Hibernia Mine

So I'm finally getting around to posting these pictures from my photo adventure with Kirsten this past Wednesday.  She ended up taking me to the historic Hibernia Mine railroad bridge in downtown Raritan. It's the oldest metal truss bridge in the county and it was restored in the past few years. Instead of taking pictures on the bridge itself we ventured down under the bridge toward the man-made water fall where we found a little stone landing area. I'm not sure what its purpose is but it sure made for some fantastic photos. :)

Oh, and I'm not fishing. I'm horrible at fishing. Once I caught the tiniest fish and instead of reeling it in I flailed it around until it plopped right back into the water. I was pretty sure if I reeled it in it would slap me in the face and tell me to put it right back. I'm just duping you guys with a stick pretending to be awesome.

I moved most of my stuff into my on-campus apartment on Sunday and I've still got a ton of unpacking, shopping, and more packing to do. It's a mess but it's still nice being back on campus. I've been doing a lot of training at work, bonding with my roommates, and sleeping. Lots of sleeping. I definitely have way too many hours of sleep to catch up on. But on the other hand, maybe if I keep up my schedule of waking up at 7:30 AM every day I'll get more done...which also means I'll end up taking more accidental naps. Whomp.

Central and Remote

So now that I've returned to my job back at my university I have a lot more time and energy to do things that I haven't been able to do this summer, such as taking self-portraits like these! After work yesterday I drove over to one of my favorite self-portrait spots which are some batting cages in a hidden park. No one was around so I happily set up my tripod and pranced around in front of my camera like a good ol' fashion blogger.

I think my favorite outfit shots are the ones I take myself because I have full control of the camera and the angles. But then again, the funnest photo shoots are the ones I take with my photographers (Jeremy, Monisha, and Kirsten). I'm actually meeting up with Kirsten after work today to take some pictures. She found an awesome place nearby that we're going to adventure to - I can't wait to see where it is. :)

I'm finally recovering from crazy amounts of exhaustion. This past weekend, as you may know from my last blog post, I was in Atlantic City for a service event I was planning for Circle K clubs all over the east coast. The event was successful and I can't wait to post pictures and edit all the video clips I took of it. Maybe I'll share some on my blog! A few friends and I stayed an extra night at the Showboat Casino which was awesome despite only getting 2 hours of sleep that night. Giving up sleep for a wild night on the boardwalk is well worth it. :)

Don't forget that today is the last day to enter the Anastasia Brow Kit Giveaway! :)

Sing Along to My Stereo Heart

I swear, I'm horrible with posting my outfits on the day I actually wear them. I have approximately 4-5 outfit pictures from the past week that I just haven't posted. I promise I'm taking them I'm just slacking - not gonna lie. I'll definitely have more time and energy to blog since today was the last day of my internship in the city.  A bunch of people in the office took me out for lunch to celebrate and say goodbyes. I'll definitely miss the people there and the experience but I definitely won't miss the daily four-hour round-trip commute! On Monday I start working at my college internship but the commute is only a 20-minute drive (thank god) and then I'll be able to move into my on-campus apartment in only a week! Time is flying by!

I wish I had some time between my two internships to relax but I'm spending this weekend down in Atlantic City! I've been planning a service event with a friend for Circle K clubs all over the East Coast including New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. It's going to be crazy insane and I'm so excited! Planning everything resulted in tons of stress but luckily it'll be over by Sunday and hopefully everyone will have had the time of their lives! Too bad I have to wake up at the crack of dawn tomorrow (but then again I'm used to it by now). :P

Oh, and I'm well aware I look super orange in these pictures. It might have to do with the sunlight that morning or with the orange of my skirt reflecting off my face. Most likely the sunlight.

Don't forget to enter the Brow Kit Giveaway by next Wednesday, August 17! :)

Familiar Ground

Last night, after work, I met up with a couple of my friends to grab some Mac & Cheese at S'MAC in the East Village. Can you say DELICIOUS? I had the Napoletana which was drenched in mozzarella cheese, roasted tomatoes, roasted garlic, and fresh basil. I'm already drooling at the thought of it. Good thing it's only a few blocks away from where I work!  Luckily the pouring rain had stopped by the time we finished eating so we were able to wander around doing absolutely nothing and looking for a Starbucks to satisfy my friend's addiction.

I'll probably catch a movie tonight with a friend once I get home - I have an urge to see Horrible Bosses just because I love Jennifer Aniston and I'm obsessed with Charlie Day after numerous episodes of It's Always Sunny. But then again maybe I'll skip out on the movie depending on how tired I feel. I woke up this morning in the clothes I wore yesterday! That's what I get for getting home at midnight after waking up at 6 AM that day. At least I took my contacts out before passing out!

Set Me Down in Your Warm Arms

Set Me Down in Your Warm Arms

I haven't seen Jeremy since the end of May and he finally came home from studying abroad in Turkey this past week. He picked me up from work on Thursday with flowers in one hand and I'm pretty sure I melted. It was surreal seeing him in person rather than through a computer screen. I took him to Ninja New York for an early one-year anniversary dinner. Best experience ever?? There were ninjas popping out everywhere and Jeremy kept getting attacked by waiters passing by. I'm pretty sure I cursed at one two many waiters but they were asking for it what with their stealthy attacks and such. It was perfect for our weird sense of humor though, although the amount of food completely defeated us.

After running a few errands on Friday I spent the day with Jeremy being complete bums since he was still suffering from jet lag and I was suffering from a week of work. We ended up seeing Cowboys & Aliens which was completely ridiculous...therefore I enjoyed it immensely. IMMENSELY. We spent Saturday, our last day together, by waking up super early to catch the sunrise by the beach.

We were the only ones on the beach besides two random men with their metal detectors and the lifeguard getting the beach ready for the day. My favorite trips to the beach are when they're void of humanity and people trying to burn themselves to a crisp. After lying around and taking a million pictures we found the cutest breakfast place called The Mariner's Cove. They have a selection of over 200 omelettes as well as scrumptious potato pancakes. Looking at the menu itself was exhausting! I love discovering little places like this. :)

After a very filling breakfast we headed further down south to Seaside Heights and we were greeted with plenty of sunshine and crazy, awesome waves (and no, we didn't run into the cast of the Jersey Shore). We left the beach covered in sand and filled to the brim with salt water. And of course there's nothing better than grabbing some root beer floats from Stewart's on the way home. Now he's currently on a plane to China and I'm missing him all over again. Hopefully the month will fly by fast (but not too fast). :)
