Difficult to Leave, Impossible to Forget

This past weekend was New Jersey Circle K's 48th Annual District Convention and as District Governor I was pretty much the head honcho for the entire weekend. It would be too complicated to explain on my blog but basically all of the Circle K clubs within the state got together to celebrate our past year of service, leadership, and fellowship. We also elect the new District Board for the upcoming year! I spent the entire weekend running around the hotel like a hot mess because I'm a perfectionist when it comes to planning events. But in the end it was completely worth it because people were saying it was the best convention they've been to in a really, really long time - and this includes people that have been to these conventions for years and years. I could not be more proud of my entire District Board and all the members within the state.

I have never cried so much or felt so, so, so much love in one weekend. I'm still in amazement right now and, regardless of all the obstacles that came my way this past year, I've gotta be one of the luckiest people in the world. This weekend just reminds me that I can accomplish more than I ever hoped to (thanks to all of the help and support from the amazing people in my life) and that there are people in the world who love me - every single part of me. That's all I could ever hope for. I remember when I was giving my Governor's farewell speech on Sunday morning, I looked out at the crowd and I felt so incredibly proud.

Now I'm back in my on-campus apartment and I'm trying to heal. I overexerted my body this past weekend and got barely enough sleep to function. As a result I've lost my voice and my entire body is in pain. I definitely need to rest up and get my health back in order. In the mean time, I took these outfit pictures about a week ago when I went dropped by home to visit my family before the convention. I haven't worn my Madewell shoes in the longest time so I took them out of their box while the weather was still beautiful.

Only Man She Want

This upcoming weekend is my District Convention for the community service organization I'm a part of, Circle K International. For those of you that don't know, I serve as the District Governor which means I'm in charge of the entire New Jersey District. This Convention is one of the biggest events of my service year and there's a whole lot riding on my shoulders. I've been working my ass off with my board members for the longest time and I still can't believe everything's coming to an end in only a couple of days. It'll be nice to have the stress gone but it's going to be so heartbreaking turning over the position to the newly elected Governor. It's going to be a super bittersweet experience. I'm pulling an all-nighter tonight to get all my speeches written. I never know how to properly say what I want to say - especially when I know I'll be talking to a crowd of over one hundred people. I'm just hoping I don't pass out since I'm insanely tired right now.

Due to my Convention I'll be absent from my blog until Monday so I apologize in advance for the lack of updates. Don't miss me too much! ;)

In the meantime, enjoy these pictures of my bare legs in the beautiful, summer-like weather. My roommates and I are taking advantage of the sunshine tomorrow morning and taking a quick trip to the beach before our classes. Hopefully I'll still be able to wake up even from my lack of sleep!

You Got Me Lifted

It's officially spring tomorrow and I could not be more excited! The weather outside was beautiful - the sun was shining and there was the perfect breeze where it's not too cold and not too windy. I love that good weather has the ability to put almost everyone in a better mood. I'm stuck inside doing work for my Convention that's coming up on Saturday but I still can't help but smile knowing that the entire week is full of amazing weather. The one downside that comes with Spring was that I felt my eye allergies kicking in. It's time to stock up on some Visine!

Aldo Wedges

Every time I wear these shoes it always amazes me how they make my feet look two sizes smaller. It's a bit of an odd look but I love them too much not to wear them. Wearing wedges in general gives me a nervous feeling, now that I think about it. It all started a year ago when I was crossing the street in a pair of my favorite wedges. I stepped in a pothole and literally face-planted in the middle of the crosswalk. To make it worse, the light was green so I wasn't even supposed to be crossing, so a few cars had to wait until I got myself back up. I'm pretty sure I flashed everyone too since I was wearing a skirt. So now whenever I wear wedges I get the sensation of face-planting. Epic fail.

But now I must go detox my body after my spring break and catch up on loads of work. SO PUMPED.

Harlem and the Whale

I went into the city Wednesday night to hang out with one of my best friends. Since he graduated a year before I did, I don't really get to see him often (and train tickets into the city ain't cheap). I took advantage of my spring break to visit his apartment in Harlem which is not as scary as people make it out to be. But then again, I was in the good part of Harlem so that might explain it.

He took Thursday off from work so we were able to roam around the city late at night and go bar hopping near the Columbia area. It was pretty cool seeing a different kind of college crowd out and about compared to the usual college crowd I'm used to at my University. Overall it was an awesome night and the main thing I can remember is just laughing non-stop. Definitely the sign of a good night. :)

The next day we both woke up extremely groggy but, after splashing some water on our faces and refreshing ourselves, we decided to venture out and take advantage of his day off. We headed downtown to Chinatown and grabbed some delicious dim sum (I seriously can't get enough of that place). That's where we took these pictures - I happen to look kind of silly in most of them since he wouldn't stop making me laugh. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon in the Museum of Natural History. I've been craving a visit there ever since I watched The Squid and the Whale last year. I don't remember if I my parents took me to the museum when I was much younger but it felt like my first time there all over again. Of course my favorite room is the one with the model of a blue whale hanging from the ceiling. The atmosphere there (if you subtract all the kids screaming and crying) is beautiful.

What You Feel is Called Obsession

The weather was so nice out yesterday so my friend Rachel and I took a gorgeous drive down to the shore. I always forget that the winds seem to pick up and get chillier the closer you get to the water so unfortunately we didn't get any sun bathing in (hence my extreme paleness in these photos) but at least we got some delicious noms into our stomachs. If you guys ever happen to travel to Jersey (or already live in Jersey), go to one of the many Turning Points in the area. They only serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch and everything on their menu is worth dying for. I'm not really fond of waffles but their waffles are mind-blowing. And their skillets - I'm drooling right now.

But enough food-gasm. The best part of the day was definitely the drive with the windows down and the music blasting. It started to feel like summer and boy, am I ready for summer.

Try to Turn the Tables

My spring break so far has been kind of insane but I've been loving every second of it. On Saturday I headed down to the Seaside (yes, from Jersey Shore) St. Patrick's Day Parade & Bar Crawl. I'm not exactly sure why they had it a week early but all the beaches in New Jersey are having them on different weekends - probably to attract more people to attend. I was definitely on a beer craze and by the end of the night I began to grow a mini-beer belly. If only I was more of a mixed drink girl but I love my beer. One of my favorite bars that day was Captain Hook's Bar, mainly because of the chill environment. There were pool tables, hockey tables, arcade games, a live band, and the main bar looked like a pirate ship. Definitely going back there again. Oh, and tons of men in kilts? Pretty fantastic. If you follow me on Twitter you probably saw some of my tweets from that day.

On Sunday I took some time to just walk around all over my university with one of my friends. It was amazing just enjoying the weather and not being in front of a computer screen all day or constantly texting people. I put my phone on silence for once and it was so liberating. It was one of the most stress-free days I've had in a really, really long time and it was just what I needed right now. In fact, you should all stop reading my blog post and go outside for five minutes. Take a walk. Get some beautiful, fresh air. Well, of course unless it's freezing cold where you are. Then you should just stay inside and snuggle in your blankets. :)

We Got a Good Thing

The weather today is absolutely gorgeous and all I want to do is run around outside and feel the cool breeze on my bare legs. Unfortunately, I'm currently sitting in class (and obviously paying attention) and I still have two more classes to go before I'm home free. By the time I get out of my last class the sun will have set and the temperature will have lowered. If only the weather was this nice on a day where I had more free time. Hopefully the weather will continue to be this beautiful for the next few days since my spring break starts tomorrow! I can't wait to catch up on hours and hours of lost sleep. Oh, and of course home cooking. Om noms.

This wallet is another piece I received from lovely people over at Free Endearment for their style blogger challenge! If you haven't already gone over to their Facebook Page and voted for your favorite look (hint hint) then you should definitely go do that now! Just by voting you automatically get entered into a drawing for one of three of their gorgeous bags. It wasn't time for us to post a look with our second item yet but this wallet has literally never left my side since it arrived in the mail. I'm super stubborn about carrying a bag around so I always end up stuffing my cash and cards in my back pocket of my jeans (there's actually an outline of my ID in my pocket). Now I've finally found a wallet that I don't mind carrying around everywhere! It's small, simple, and there's a little bit of suede. In love? I think I am. <3

Lady in Red

If you guys have noticed, I rarely wear red in my outfit posts, so when I got the chance to snatch up this red mini-skirt I went for it. I think my anti-red closet started when my guy friend from high school told me I would look good in red because I was Asian. Being the rebel that I was back then, I refused to wear red and accentuate my "asian-ness". I know, I know, really dumb reason not to wear red. Now that I'm out of high school and not so concerned with being like everyone else, I'm trying to add more red back into my closet.

This is definitely the motivation I need to keep on blogging these days. If you go over to the Free Endearment Facebook Page you can see all the other participating bloggers and vote on your favorite looks! Definitely head over and show your support (no pressure :P)or even "like" other looks from other bloggers. Just by voting you get entered into a drawing for one of three bags! You've got nothing to lose. :)
