Talking to the Moon

The lovely Mama Hsieh took these photos the other evening when the sun was setting a beautiful shade of rose. I don't think I've seen such a perfect sunset in a really long time, mainly since I'm usually sitting in class around that time or being ridiculously busy doing other things. The one thing I don't like about having to take pictures outside of my house is the crazy amount of kids running around outside. In the recent years, all of my neighbors who were toddlers have grown up into rowdy children which makes me miss those days where I would ride my bike down to my friends' houses and trade Pokemon cards. What a life. Normally I wouldn't mind them running around everywhere, but there's this one girl who will literally stand in the middle of the road next to me and just stare while I take pictures. It's a very, very uncomfortable situation.

Do these shoes seem familiar? I actually have them in a peach-orange color and I wore them on my blog in this post when the weather was warmer. And why do I have them in a dark gray as well? These babies were part of my Black Friday swag at Urban Outfitters and I snatched them up for only $10. I walked out of Urban feeling like a BO$$ Did you guys get any sick Black Friday deals?

It's a little depressing that today is the last day of break, especially since I still have so much work to get done. It's going to be a crazy week and I better get ready for it. I'm ending my break with a final lunch with some of my favorites from back home. I honestly never realize how much I miss them until we all get together and I get that feeling like I'm home. There's no better feeling then being surrounded by the people you love. :)

Flames Overhead

I've taken pictures along this pathway many times before and it's honestly one of my favorite locations. I've been waiting months and months to take pictures here during the autumn season since the trees turn into a beautiful shade of red and it's like walking underneath burning trees. Last year the leaves were only red for a week and I missed my chance to take pictures with them. This year I planned it just right - it's now or never since I'm graduating in the spring and won't be back around campus.

I'm finally home for the Thanksgiving holiday and it feels damn good to be back. My mom's cooking dinner and just smelling home cooking from the kitchen is making my stress levels go way down. I spent the afternoon catching up with my home friends at the mall and it felt like a throwback to high school. I can't believe we are all about to graduate from college and move on with the rest of our lives and head in different directions. Guess that's how life goes though, right? Just speeds up faster and faster.

But anyway, while you're in the midst of celebrating and stuffing yourself full of food, don't forget that you still have until (Black) Friday to enter my $100 Shopbop Giftcard Giveaway! Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate it! :)

Under My Umbrella

My mom took these pictures a few weeks ago when I wasn't feeling so well and made a quick trip home for the afternoon. She always knows how to lift up my mood and she always knows all the right things to say - there's just something magical about mothers and it makes me wonder if one day I'll be able to be like her. It was raining during these pictures (hence the umbrella) and my mom braved the drizzle with my camera in her hands. She's seriously the best I could ask for. I don't know anyone else that can put up with me, especially in my worst moments.

I'm feeling a little groggy right now since I took an impromptu Saturday afternoon nap, which are the best kinds of naps. That's what I get for taking codeine in the middle of the day. But I need to snap out of it in ten minutes since it's my friend's 22nd and we're celebrating all night long. Gotta love birthdays. :)

Dynamic Duo in Denim

Instead of picking the same exact item this time, Jasmine and I decided to style up our own denim jackets for our latest Dynamic Duo! I scored one at the Modswap in September and Jasmine came across the perfect denim jacket on a thrifting adventure. It's definitely stepping outside of our comfort zones since I don't think either of us have ever worn a denim jacket on our blogs! I love that we both decided to pair up our jackets with dresses. She went for a lighter palette and I went for a darker palette. It's kind of funny that she's the one wearing the tights since it's way colder on the east coast where I am. Then again, I took my pictures about a month ago so that explains why my legs are bare. These days I'm living in my jeans and boots.

$100 Shopbop Giveaway

It's been way too long since my last giveaway in August so I present to you, a giveaway for a $100 gift card to Shopbop! I hosted a similar giveaway almost a year ago and this is your second chance to win it if you weren't so lucky the first time.

Personally I'm loving the DVF Cardigans (you know my obsession with cozy sweaters and knits in the winter time) and the rich, autumn colors are absolutely gorgeous.

Cashmere sweaters in general have got me head over heels in love. I don't own anything that's completely cashmere except for a scarf that I bought in Italy a few years ago. Every time I wear it I always find myself rubbing my face against it since it's so soft. My favorite is the beige one all the way on the right - it reminds me of my own beige cardigan and makes me crave some burnt red cords to pair it with.

But obviously you can get more than just sweaters (although that's all I need). One of the brands that caught my eye on the site is Tbags Los Angeles - I love how everything flows loosely, especially their shirt dresses.

How to Enter

Mandatory Entry: Be a Google Connect Follower and tell me what your Thanksgiving plans are! :)

1. Be a Facebook Fan

In a Hopeless Place

I finally went to my home doctor on Friday and she diagnosed me with acute bronchitis and hooked me up with some strong cough medicine containing codeine. Now I've started feeling a lot better and I've finally been able to get some uninterrupted sleep! My throat is still feeling a little bit raw due to all the coughing this past week but I should be back to normal within the next week or two.

On the bright side the weather outside is gorgeous today and it's hard to believe just a few weeks ago it was freezing cold and there was snow on the ground. I'm not sure what's up with the weather but I'm not complaining right now!

Jeremy and I took advantage of the nice weather yesterday to take a walk along a tree-lined pathway that splits the Raritan River down the middle. I'm not sure how far it stretches since I have never had the time to walk the whole distance of the path. It's the perfect place to go bike riding though - now I just have to invest in a bike to ride or steal my brother's.

Killing Me Softly

Now that the weather is getting chillier, I'm getting used to wearing tights all over again. I'm going to miss my bare legs but it's always fun looking down and seeing random shades of colors rather than skin. These plum tights are one of my absolute favorites. My roommate Monisha actually picked out the majority of this outfit - I put on the dress and she styled it up. There are just some days where I need a little help figuring out what to wear, especially when I'm not feeling my best.

Urban Outfitters Blazer
H&M Striped Dress, Wedges

I'm finally giving in and going to the on-campus doctor this afternoon. I've woken up in the middle of sleeping from violent coughing four nights in a row and I'm pretty sure that's not okay. I always wait until the last minute to get checked out but hopefully I'll be able to get some antibiotics to chase this cough away.

Like the Squirrel Girl

Lately I've been feeling kind of miserable both mentally and physically. Every Winter I usually have coughing attacks that last for 2-3 weeks but this year it's hitting me especially hard to the point where I can't sleep at night. My coughing will wake me up every three hours and it'll take forever to fall back to sleep. I even slept in the living room last night so I wouldn't keep my roommate up.

It's so frustrating since nothing seems to be making me feel any better. Cough Drops, Mucinex, Hot Tea, Soup - I'm too exhausted to try anything else. I'm debating whether or not to just go back to my apartment and heal properly but I still have class tonight until 9:30pm.

Life has been really rough this past week. I got in a car crash so I've been having to deal with so many insurance problems (no worries, no one was injured and I'm not at fault). One of my biggest events of the year that I had to plan as the District Governor of NJ Circle K (a collegiate service organization) fell through last minute because of something completely out of my control. This whole cough situation isn't much fun. And there's just so, so, so, so much more that it's all piling up on each other. This also explains why I haven't been blogging as much as I would like to.

It's times like these, though, when I realize how great my friends are. I have friends who will go out of the way just to have lunch with me, talk to me for hours, take me shopping, and take me out to dinner...just to make me feel better. Plus, I'm wearing my coziest sweater today and my new favorite boots to lift my mood. Hopefully I'll be back to my normal self soon enough. :)

Cheesequake

Since most of the snow has melted in my area, Jeremy and I decided to take a quick trip to Cheesequake State Park. We drove past a sign for it a few months ago and I commented on it, thinking it said Cheesecake (being my usual, always hungry self). We decided we'd take a trip down there sometime with some Cheesecake so we would be having Cheesecake at Cheesequake. We didn't have any Cheesecake with us this time around but we definitely will next time. And maybe next time we head down to Cheesequake the weather will be a lot warmer.

Also, could I have used the word Cheese any more times in one blog post? Reading it out loud makes it seem like a tongue twister!
