Happy 20th Birthday Jen!

Its Jen's 20th birthday today and as her roommate I decided to hijack her blog to sneak in a little birthday post! So here it goes, Happy Birthday Jen! You're an amazing friend and roommate and I'm so so lucky to have a person like you in my life. Whether its being your personal consultant as you ask me Are you sure this outfit looks ok? for the millionth time, or helping you pick between pictures, I love knowing the girl behind the blog and getting to be there for every minute of the amazing ride. So I hope you have a fantastic 20th birthday!

These are some of my favorite pictures of Jen that I snapped on one of our many adventures. Whether its in the city, in the middle of the woods or just  in the middle of  our apartment we always have a blast with our photo shoots. Jen's pretty much a natural when it comes to posing but I would like to think having me around cracking jokes puts a little bit more life into the pictures.
I hope everyone enjoyed this post! This blog has become a big part of Jen's life and I'm so proud to be the roommate of someone with such a successful artistic endeavor.  I know Jen would love to have all of you celebrate her birthday with her so make sure you wish her a happy birthday!
Love, Monisha

A Little Bit of Thanks

So now that I've already asked all of you guys what you're thankful for [in my last giveaway] I guess now it's my turn.

I'm thankful to have a mother who brings me fruit before I go to sleep each night. I'm thankful to have a father who tries to give me a life without worries. I'm thankful to have an older brother who's proud of me. I'm thankful to have a handful of friends that will love me unconditionally. I'm thankful to have a boy who hugs me tighter than anyone ever could. I'm thankful to have a home to go back to.  I'm thankful for strangers that become fast friends. I'm thankful for those frightening moments that make you cherish your life more than ever. I'm thankful that no matter how many times I lose control I still end up alright.

(Dress ASOS, Wrap Forever 21, Belt H&M, Tights DIY, Boots White Mountain)

And finally, I'm thankful for you. Being a part of this blogging community and meeting people that actually care about what I have to say is an amazing feeling. Sometimes all you need in this world is to feel like you belong somewhere, and you guys help me feel like I do.  Have an amazing Thanksgiving.

P.S. If you're wondering about my tights, they were from my freshman year of college when I was Pinocchio for Halloween. I found them while searching through my drawers at home and apparently they're supposed to make me look like I have legs made from wood (hence the hinges).

Can't Wait to Be Back Home

Can't Wait to Be Back Home

Just one more day and it'll be Thanksgiving break! It's been a rough and tiring semester and this is a much anticipated and much needed time off from college. Luckily our break is longer than usual this year since they also gave us Wednesday off so that's one more night I can spend in my bed at home. Lately I've been feeling pretty lousy so hopefully with some home cooking (and black friday shopping) I'll start to feel more like myself again.

(Cardigan dELiA*s, T-shirt Forever 21, Skirt Urban Outfitters, Belt H&M, Flats Urban Outfitters)

This is one of those outfits that just came together so easily. The skirt is fun to walk around in but unfortunately I chose a very, very chilly and windy day to wear it on so I was freezing every time I stepped outside. I need to start accepting the fact that we're already well into fall and that winter is approaching. As much as I love wearing tights, sometimes I just like going bare legged. I can't wait until the warmer weather again!

Keep checking back. I'll be posting a Vlog announcing the giveaway winner in the next day or two! :)

Dark Green and Reckless

Dark Green and Reckless

HARRY POTTER WAS THE BOMB. RIGHT? I'm pretty sure I cried at least twice but that's because I'm a wuss and I cry easily. I was definitely twitching as well during the first 5 minutes of the movie from anticipation. Someone in the theater was dressed up as a very convincing Mad-Eye Moody as well so that was pretty awesome. But overall, five thumbs up. My favorite part was when they were telling one of the stories from The Tales of Beedle the Bard since the animation during the story-telling was absolutely stunning and so different from the film itself.

But enough about Harry Potter since everyone's been rambling on about it non-stop (at least on Facebook). All I feel like doing today is bumming around but I've gotta go to work and then meet a friend for dinner...which means I'll have to unglue myself from this couch and take a shower. So much for my plans to loaf around the living room and watch Harry Potter movies all day.

(Coat American Rag, Dress Urban Outfitters, Belt & Tights Topshop, Wedges Seychelles)

This is actually one of my favorite outfits I've worn lately. Dark green is my favorite color to wear (besides burgundy) but I don't really have much of it in my closet since finding something I love in the perfect shade of dark green is difficult these days. I remember my senior year of high school I literally searched everywhere for the perfect dark green dress but to my disappointment there wasn't one to be found. This dress somewhat fills that void.

So, have I mentioned how reckless and clumsy I am? How I take everything I own for granted and don't really take care of anything properly? During this photo shoot I bumped my head on the railings approximately 20+ times, tripped once or twice while running back to my camera, and even almost fell over due to the heavy wind. Also, I got mud both on my knees (as shown in the above pictures), ripped my tights, and got mud on my wedges as well. Horrible thing is, I don't really care. It's like that as well with my electronics. I drop everything I own constantly and I keep on telling myself I'll take better care of my belongings. I never do though no matter how hard (or how not hard) I try. I've gotta work on that before everything I own goes down the drain, haha.

Dynamic Duo #8

Dynamic Duo #8

So despite our busy schedules, Jasmine (Transient Withdrawal) and I managed to find the time to do a Dynamic Duo post! Instead of getting yet another item to add to our ever growing collections of clothing, we decided to remix an old Dynamic Duo item that you'll recognize from this post! I like how we both remixed this dress in different ways for the colder weather. I'm in love with Jasmine's cardigan (she needs to share the wealth) and the light pink softens the intensity of the floral pattern.

I don't think I've ever worn such a bright color in an outfit in the longest time. I usually lean towards muted and/or darker colors. I felt like a walking berry all day long with these tights on. I've never gotten so many stares just walking around campus and riding the bus. I'm pretty sure if I crossed the road I could have replaced the traffic light, haha. :)

Jasmine (Cardigan H&M, Dress Forever 21, Headband Forever 21, Flats Topshop)

Jen (Jacket American Rag, Shirt Zara, Dress Forever 21, Tights HUE, Wedges H&M)

So in exactly 24 hours I will be sitting in a dark, crowded theater watching HARRY POTTER. Who's excited? I'M BEYOND EXCITED. Dressing up as Cho Chang? Yes.

Being Eeyore

(blazer urban outfitters, dress asos, belt urban outfitters, tights HUE, shoes madewell)

Sometimes I wish I cared more about my education. Maybe it's because I'm not all entirely passionate about what I'm studying, or maybe it's because I'm just a lazy person in general. It might be a little bit of both. I've been sitting in front of my computer for about 5 hours now with my class notes lying right under my nose. I can't recall doing anything productive in those five hours, let alone studying. The only thing I can recall doing is eating. I think I'd be perfectly happy spending the next few days just lying in bed and eating. I need someone to smack me around a bit and motivate me to study.

Also, sorry in advance for not posting as many outfits as I would like to these days and in the upcoming week. Now that Daylight Savings Time has ended, the sun starts setting around 4-5pm and it's hard to find time beforehand to go take pictures. Self-portraits are also a bit tiring when it comes to lugging around my camera and my tripod with my school bag.  I'll be a little less of a downer once Thanksgiving Vacation comes around. Actually, more like Winter Vacation. I promise.
