A Very Sick and Tired Jen

Forever 21 Bomber Coat (similar) | Polka Dot Dress c/o LuLu*s (similar) | Urban Outfitters Beige Cropped Sweater (similar) | ASOS Over-the-Knee Socks | Urban Outfitters Canvas Satchel (similar)

It's been a rough end to the month, let me tell you guys. I started feeling horribly sick this past  Friday but I already had plans to head down to Atlantic City with a few of my co-workers. This means I got dressed up despite my stuffy nose, congested chest, and foggy head, and proceeded to party hard until the sun started peeking up over the ocean horizon. Good idea at the time? Oh, most definitely. Bad idea for the rest of the weekend? Even more so.

I spent the rest of the weekend away from my computer and resting up, and then I attempted to make it into work today. Toward the mid-afternoon, I put my hands up and gave in to my body's demands. And now? I'm sitting at home and finally properly taking care of myself. But in the meantime, I'm finally sharing an outfit from two weekends ago when I grabbed dim sum with Jeremy at our favorite place in Chinatown.

Hope everyone's starting off their week on a great note!

Keep Up, Don't Give Up

Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar) | V-Neck Tee c/o Le Motto | Urban Outfitters Yellow Dress (similar) | Madewell Suede Strap Sandals (similar

Last week was the start of spring. There's a snow storm headed to the area tomorrow evening. What. I'm pretty sure I already decided to do away with my tights this season so I guess my bare legs will just have to bear the snow fall and chilly winds. Winter, don't hold me back yo. No, but seriously, I'll be taking out my plethora of scarves, gloves, and earmuffs again. Ol' man winter ain't no joke this year and it doesn't look like he'll be going away anytime soon. I just want to take weekend trips to the beach again and bathe in the oh so glorious sunlight.

But on a less dramatic note, I'm super excited to share a new brand I was just introduced to with you guys: Le Motto. Bullying is a problem that we've all had to deal with at some point in our lives and they're making it their mission to spread positivity so that negativity doesn't have a place to even grow. Additionally 10% of their profits are donated to anti-bullying programs. They offer [the most comfortable] t-shirts and accessories with various empowering phrases, so you can represent the message that holds closest to what you stand for. Personally, I fight any negativity by showing strength and endurance, so I fight for not giving up. What do you guys fight for?

Studio 12.20 : Festival Daze

It’s almost that time of year again where it is completely acceptable to run around with a headdress made entirely of daisies, your favorite cheeky denim cut-offs, and a crop top of one sort or another. It’s the time of year where you put a lot of thought into an outfit only to portray the idea that you put no thought into it (or because you might be photographed next to Vanessa Hudgens and you’ll be damned if you don’t look as good as her).

You guessed it, festival season is here! But who are we kidding, we’re sure you’ve been gathering tie dye tanks and crochet pieces for this year’s most anticipated event since last summer.

Let’s face it though, dishing out cash for quirky clothing items that you will only wear to these couple crazy music events (on top of the mad cash you dished to get your hands on the tickets) is a little absurd. That’s why Studio 12.20 gathered a ton of awesome stuff that is not only super relevant for whichever festival is on your radar this year, but will still translate into your daily wear when you return to earth.

From pretty kimonos that are just loud enough, to flattering and ultra comfy printed pants, to bright bralettes that may serve as a top while you're soaking up the sun in the valley, here are some of Studio 12.20's festival MUST HAVES.

[Hint: Use code"Jen1220" for 15% off]

Like a Hummingbird Hovering

Topshop Mauve Sweater (similar) | Black Maxi Dress c/o For Elyse | Shoemint Studded Flats (similar) | Urban Outfitters Beige Satchel (similar)

My beloved black maxi dress, that has served me well for so many years, has been retired. After one of many washes I discovered that it had shrank, becoming more of a midi dress. Why it took so long to shrink, I don't know. But I spent a good few minutes staring at it in the mirror and getting a little emotional. Don't judge.

But luckily, For Elyse came to the rescue and hooked me up with this bad boy. And I do feel bad saying this...but it's so much better. This one actually has an inner layer so it's not see through when the sun shines down (i.e.) upon it. Now I believe my life is complete again, thank you very much.

Now please excuse me as I frolick around the city and enjoy the closest weather we've had to spring all week long. What do you guys have planned this weekend?

A Thousand Miles From Comfort

Forever 21 Beige Coat (similar) | Striped Sweater c/o LuLu*s (similar) | American Apparel Polka Dot Chiffon Skirt (similar) | ASOS Over-the-Knee Socks | Aldo Black Oxford Wedges (similar)

We're still stuck in this cold spell. How can I tell? Besides feeling the bitter winter winds for myself, a good handful of people kept asking me if I was cold wearing what I was wearing this outfit. Sure, a part of my legs are exposed, but I think I've been wearing seasonally-inappropriate clothing for quite some time now (example). I'm a pro.

March Madness started off today and I'm hooked. I have my bracket constantly up in the background while I'm at work. And before you ask me, the answer is no. I'm not that big of a sports fan. Sure, I used to love playing basketball but I was never on a team and it was more so my dad pushing me out the door and placing a basketball in my hands. But my big boss man made it mandatory for us to fill out our brackets and now I'm addicted. It's the thrill you guys. The thrill.

The King of Pants

H&M Oatmeal Sweater (similar) | Forever 21 Black Sheer Blouse (similar) | Kingsley Pant in Black c/o Alvin Valley | What Time? Watch c/o Rakani Watches | Foxy Heels c/o Via Spiga (similar)

There is such a thing as the perfect pair of pants.

When I was younger, I remember picking up a pair of $10 jeans from Forever 21 and thinking I hit the jackpot. I mean come on, a great fitting pair of pants for that cheap? How could I resist? Then after a few wears, you realize why they were so cheap - they don't hold their shape with multiple wears and the fabric is so thin you start to notice holes appearing. I'm not saying I don't still wear them from time to time...I'm just saying they aren't the best long-term investment.

Then, after I graduated and moved into the city, I started to appreciate investing in great quality pieces that last for years on end. And now, thanks to the lovely Alvin Valley team, I now own a pair of pants that have blown my mind.  I've read about Alvin being "the King of Pants" and I didn't know whether or not I should actually take that seriously. After all, how many restaurants do you see claiming they have the "Best Pizza in the City"? All of the restaurants. But these pants are tailored so perfectly and the cut actually flatters and accentuates my figure. A higher rise in the back, a bit of a dip in the front, the zipper on the side, and a bit of stretch near the stomach? The equation for the perfect pair of pants.

Alright Alvin, you win this round. Teach me your ways. They're relaunching their e-commerce site today with their Spring-Summer collection, so go check it out and get ready for a lot of clothing lust coming your way.

We Can Go Wherever We Want

Target Gray Cardigan (similar) | H&M Polka Dot Tank (similar) | Vintage Skirt c/o Brag Vintage (similar) | Ankle Strap Heels c/o LuLu*s (similar)

This has been such a ridiculously relaxing weekend and I couldn't be more happy about it. I spent most of it back in New Jersey, reuniting with old college and high school friends and also indulging in my mom's home cooking. Now I'm back in the city and finishing up something at the office before heading back uptown to my apartment. Weekends always end too soon, don't they?

The weather on the east coast keeps alternating between the beautiful 50's to the chilly 20's this week. I seriously don't get it. Not one bit. It's literally been every other day and if I ever said the weather was being bipolar before? Well, I take it back. NOW it's being bipolar. At least it means half the time I get to wear skirts without tights. It's better than never, yeah?

March: What I'm Listening To

I can't really explain this playlist except for the fact that I like a lot of different types of music and I'm indecisive. So here is what I'm listening to lately. There's no general theme except for the theme of songs that are heaven to my ears. It's a little bit of high school Jen, "I-want-to-go-clubbing" Jen, and "I-can't-wait-for-Bonnaroo-" Jen. And feel free to drop some suggestions in the comments - there's no such thing as too much music to listen to. AM I RIGHT?
