Want A Whiff?

H&M Cotton Flannel Shirt, H&M Gray Flare Skirt (similar), Forever 21 Gray Wool Longline Coat (similar), H&M Black Thigh High Socks, H&M Blush Patterned Scarf (similar), Black Combat Boots c/o LuLu*s (similar), Olive Green Hat c/o LuLu*s (similar)

I'm cheating because these photos were technically from three weeks ago and I'm just hoarding them all like a psychotic woman who takes photos of her outfits and scrolls through them on her camera cackling to herself and being like NO ONE WILL EVER SEE THESE and imaging that people will be heartbroken to be denied access to them.

No wait...that is me.

But more importantly is that I wore this shirt to work two days in a row. I didn't even realize until I reached the front door to my office, paused, looked down, and...boom. You wore this same shirt yesterday, moron. So I did the only thing I could do. I owned it. I walked around with my head held high as if to say, "Yeah, I probably stink. Want a whiff?"

And no one cared. Or wanted a whiff.

Bad Ass Boots vs. Winter Storm Jonas

Olive Toggle Coat c/o Tulle (similar, similar)H&M Striped Tee (similar), Oversized Plaid Flannel Shirt c/o Chicnova (similar, similar), H&M Black Circle Skirt, Anne Klein Black Tights (similar), Timberland Authentic Boots (similar), Urban Outfitters Black Textured Mini-Backpack (similar)

It doesn't seem like these giant snow banks and slush puddles, remnants of Snowstorm Jonas, are going anywhere anytime soon, which means these bad boys on my feet will be a semi-permanent installment for the next couple of weeks. Seriously, one of the best investments I've ever made in my life. They disguise themselves well as regular boots but when you look away they start tearing those slush puddles a new one with their waterproof exterior and powerful gripping strength.

I need to take my boots out somewhere nice to celebrate its achievements. Taking them on my daily trek to work isn't much of a thank you.

26.8 Inches

When I was younger, I used to do a snow dance the night before a predicted snowstorm so that school would be canceled. Yes, I'm talking about the one where you wear your pajamas inside out and dance around like an idiot. It seemed stupid even at a young age, but there was no way you were going to be the one who didn't dance and made everyone go to school. No fucking way.

Nowadays, my version of a snow dance is being cynical about the actual amount of predicted snowfall, as if to say to Mother Nature, "Do it, YOU WON'T." And boy, did she prove me wrong yesterday. We were .10 inches away from being the largest snowstorm in New York City's history, with a whopping total of 26.8 inches measured in Central Park. That's almost half my height, which is mind-boggling to me. I mean, the amount of snow in these pictures was from the pre-blizzard snowfall. THIS WASN'T EVEN THE START OF THE BLIZZARD.

But now that the snow has stopped falling, excuse me while I run outside and jump facedown in a massive snowbank. Hope everyone hit by the snowstorm is staying warm and safe.

The Punta Cana Diaries: A Slice of Paradise

Raisins Swimwear Macrame Bikini c/o Swimsuit Direct (similar), White Drop Shift Dress c/o LuLu*s (similar, similar), Don Fisher Whale Bag via Jeremy, Vintage Green Silk Scarf c/o Style by Portobello (similar)

And now back to my Punta Cana adventures (well, if you count doing nothing but lying around like a bum adventures). One of my favorite parts of being down in the Dominican Republic was the view itself. There's something so magical about seeing water so blue and palm trees so tall. While the beaches weren't as "clean" as other resorts (online reviews made such a fuss about it for some reason), we personally enjoyed all of the seaweed lying around, being true to the way the beaches should be.

Taking these photos was a bit of a struggle when it came to the unforgiving beach winds blowing my bangs every which way, hence the very few shots of my face. I have no clue how those bikini models manage to look like they're not eating fistfuls of their own hair. They have got to have figured out a way to control the wind with some giant machine or maybe they're just immune due to some genetic wind-defying power. Where can I get me some of that, plz?

A Quick Trip to Berlin and Back

Forever 21 Gray Longline Wool Coat (similar), Forever 21 Denim Jacket (similar), Plaid Blanket Scarf c/o Dress LinkH&M Black Skirt, H&M Black Thigh High SocksH&M Gray Beanie (similar), Urban Outfitters Black Mini-Backpack (similar), Black Combat Boots c/o LuLu*s (similar)

For the past week I've been a bit MIA due to my recent trip to Berlin for a work retreat, which seemed to fly by before I had enough time to adjust to the jet lag, which only made it easier to re-adjust to life back in Astoria. I've only been to Berlin one time before back in 2009 and I feel like both experiences were so drastically different, but both pretty damn awesome.

The first time around I was traveling with my family in the middle of the summer, so the museums and memorials were filled to the brim with tourists. This time I traveled with a good number of co-workers in the middle of the winter so the streets were pretty barren and covered in snow and ice. We didn't have much time to explore the outskirts of the city, but we really got to know Mitte, the neighborhood we were working and staying in when we weren't heads down in workshops and meetings. Or stuffing my face with wienerschnitzel and beer. But now I'm so, so glad to be home and ready to enjoy this three-day weekend. Tchüß, Berlin!

The Punta Cana Diaries: Pasties + Rainstorms

Nasty Gal Runnin' with the Devil Dress (similar, similar), Aldo Black Strap Heels (similar, similar)

Recently every clothing item in the world has decided to featured low backs, no backs, and cut-outs that reveal everything but the kitchen sink. What does this mean? It means I've delved into the world of pasties and I'm never coming back out. I know I've talked about my nipples before and the topic of nipples doesn't really warrant a second mention, ( heck, I shouldn't have even used the word nipples three times already in this post) but there really is something in wearing pasties that brings me such delight.

Maybe it's the freedom of going braless and having some sort of magical secret that no one else knows about as you're strutting around town with stickers on your boobs. Pretty sure I was sprinting around the resort on New Year's Eve just unknowingly winking at strangers to tell them, "I'm wearing pasties but YOU'LL NEVER KNOW."

But enough about that; the main point is that these pasties let me rock this bad ass dress...a dress that was so bad ass that the Gods above threw up their hands in celebration and threw down an epic rainstorm only minutes after (hence the gray skies and insane winds). Hallelujah!

The Punta Cana Diaries: Sushi on the Beach

Gypsy Warrior Denim Vest, Forever 21 Sushi Bikini Top, Victoria's Secret Foldover Bikini Bottom (similar), Urban Outfitters Morgan Sandal (similar)

There's no better way to ring in the new year than to surround yourself with tan, wrinkly, old people, really buff post-college bros, and "wooo" girls. That's why Jeremy and I decided to ring in 2016 in Punta Cana at one of those all-inclusive resorts and TREAT OURSELVES. To be honest, it never really seemed like much of our scene to begin with; we love the thrill of planning our own adventures and really getting to explore the nitty gritty bits and pieces of a city. However, we didn't have too many vacation days to sacrifice so we opted for a quick getaway where we could destress after a long, long year and just do nothing. And that's what we did. Nothing.

Well, if nothing includes watching hours and hour of Chopped on Food Network (we don't have cable at home) and indulging in the luxuries of a king size bed (which I still took up 75% of). But one of the other more beach-themed highlights was getting to wear this SUSHI BIKINI because who doesn't like sushi on their boobies? I absolutely do and now I also know what I'm craving for lunch today.

Stay tuned for MORE ADVENTURES from PUNTA CANA. YUS.
