Dynamic Duo Bears Fruit

Back in March, Jasmine and I chose this fruit printed dress from ASOS for our next Dynamic Duo post. We finally got around to styling them up and exchanging photos. I'm loving the way she chose lighter colors to complement the pattern while I kept it simple and added in a splash of color with my shoes. I fell in love with this dress when I first saw it online and I couldn't get over how adorable the fruit pattern was. My mom must have fostered my love for fruit over the years since she doesn't let me go to bed without at least two servings of fruit a day. Mama Hsieh always has my back.

Jasmine and I finally got to Skype the other morning. It's been forever since we've talked face-to-face (or, in this case, screen-to-screen). I miss her like crazy and it was awesome getting to talk about everything and anything. Hopefully both of us will be able to make trips to the other side of the country over the next few months. :)

Earlier today I finally managed to go to the beach and get a little color in my skin (I know, I know, I'm already yellow). I still smell like the beach and all that sun got me pretty exhausted (typical), but I need to get energized again to go adventuring with Jeremy in a bit. We want to do something cool before he heads out on his road trip this weekend. I'll post some awkward pictures from the beach in my next post!

Danger to the Doubters

Happy Memorial Day! My friends and I are stopping by a nearby Memorial Day parade in a few minutes to show our support. Then after a quick lunch with my parents, I'm heading over to Jeremy's to help him clean out his off-campus house before he officially has to turn over his key. It would've been the perfect day to celebrate at the beach considering that the weather is 91 degrees today; however, getting to the beach would be one hell of a trip. Beach traffic on Memorial Day? Definitely something to avoid. How are you guys celebrating the holiday?

Now that it's summer, it's the season for self-portraits! I grabbed my loyal tripod and my camera and drove over to this bridge located right near the mall. For the most part it's not very populated and I only came across an older woman taking her morning walk. The last time I took pictures here I dragged my mom along with me. Looking back at that post, I wrote about how I wasn't ready to graduate. Now? I'm so ready to start my new job and see what the rest of the world is like. Bring it on post-graduation!

Oh, and the shirt I'm wearing? Junk Food Clothing is having their first Blogger Project and I got to pick out a T-shirt to style up. I'm absolutely in love with how comfortable, soft, and breathable this shirt is. Would it be going too far to tell you guys I wore it for three days in a row? Yes? Then I didn't. Absolutely not. Once all the looks are in, they're going to let their fans vote for their favorite look. Can't wait to see how all the other bloggers styled up their shirts.

Free Endearment Swag

The other day, a giant box arrived on my doorstep. You have to understand that one of my favorite things in the world is getting mail. Any type of mail - postcards, letters, magazines, and, most of all, packages - can completely brighten my day. There's just something about getting something sent to you. So, when I opened the door to this box, opened it, and found a year's supply of bags from Free Endearment, I was pretty much like a little kid running around my house, throwing bags in every direction. Absolute chaos...and I'm not even a bag person!

Thank you to the people over at Free Endearment for inviting me to participate in their Style Blog Off and giving me the chance to win all this swag! I can't wait to style up these pieces and give you guys a chance to win some as well. Go check out their Facebook Page. :)

On a semi-related note: Did you guys know that Swag stands for "Stuff We All Get"? Very anti-climactic in my opinion (and also makes the word a little bit less bad ass).

Also, congratulations to Renew-it for winning the $100 Shopbop Giveaway! Shoot me an email to claim your prize. I'll be hosting another giveaway on June 1st so be sure to enter for another chance to win some goodies. :)

Abandoned on the Tracks

Last week, my friend Kirsten and I continued our tradition of discovering interesting locations around New Jersey and we tracked down this abandoned train car along the Delaware Canal Path. Apparently it's one of many train cars sitting on the tracks that run parallel to the river. From the looks of it, it's a popular spot for graffiti and shenanigans. Usually, Kirsten and I fail to find the place we're looking for (there really aren't addresses for abandoned places) so we were super excited that we managed to find this one.

Lately I've been addicted to How I Met Your Mother. I only started watching the series a few weeks ago and I'm hooked. Within a month I managed to get to the middle of Season 5! Probably not something to be proud of. I figured I would get around to watching the series before my life got incredibly busy again.

And don't forget that today is the last day to enter the $100 Shopbop Giveaway! :)

A Picnic with Colonel Sanders

There's a beautiful pond on my University's campus called Passion Puddle and yesterday, Jeremy and I wandered over with some KFC to have a relaxing picnic. Having a picnic near the pond was on Jeremy's bucket list so we decided to cross it off before we wouldn't have a chance to return to campus again. Passion Puddle has a myth that comes along with it. Apparently, if you walk around it three times, holding hands with your significant other, you will live happily ever after. There are specific qualifications for the two people holding hands but Jeremy and I did it anyway, because what the hell. We do what we want.

We definitely overachieved when it came to our bucket of chicken. Actually, Jeremy wasn't to blame. I was the one who did the ordering. Who orders a 12-piece bucket, 2 large sides, and 6 biscuits for two people? Guess my eyes were way hungrier than my stomach.

Earlier in the day, I had also received my year's supply of Free Endearment bags that I won a few weeks ago by participating in their Style Blog Off Contest! I decided to take one of them out for a test run and I'm in love. Normally, I'm no where close to being a bag person. I shove everything I can into my pockets (and, occassionally, my bra) and hope for the best. But after a day with this beauty? Damn. Bags sure can carry a whole load of stuff.

I'll blog about the rest of my Free Endearment swag in a few days. I'll be giving one away next month so be on the look out for your chance to take one home! :)

Oh, and I normally really hate cheesy pictures on my blog, but I couldn't resist posting the last one.

Don't Break These Promises

Whenever my friend Rob came to visit me at my on-campus apartment, he currently resides in New York City, he would always offer to take my outfit pictures. This would force me to change out of my sweats and put some effort into how I looked that day. It was during one of these hang outs when we discovered my perfect outfit picture location.

There was a giant, luxury apartment complex being built across the street from my apartment and, since the bottom floor (for stores) was still under construction, the nearby pathway was usually empty. No people? Check. The complex was so tall that it blocked out any chance of sunlight and I usually prefer taking pictures in the shade. No sun? Check. The long pathway and pastel tiling also gave a beautiful sense of perspective. Check. I hit the jackpot. Too bad I moved back home before I got any more use out of it.

Now that I'm back home I really want to get some more use out of my tripod and start taking some self-portraits again. The problem is, all of my usual abandoned areas are being torn down and reconstructed with shopping centers. What can I do? Guess it's time to scout out some new locations that are void of people. Otherwise, I'll just learn to deal with the glances of strangers who are all thinking, "what in the world is that girl doing jumping in front of her tripod...alone?". Maybe I'll get a little sign to prop up that says "Blogger at Work".

I'll Make It Anywhere

I spent half of this past weekend in good ol' New York City. Recently, I feel like I'm always there either visiting friends or searching for jobs; but this time I was going to be doing some service with Circle K. Even though I graduated I'm still technically a member until the fall rolls around so they can't say goodbye to me yet! We all met up in Central Park on Friday before splitting up into teams for Saturday's service projects. My friend Saad was nice enough to snap some shots for me while things were still getting settled. Despite all the times I've been, the beauty of Central Park never fails to amaze me. There's always a new area to discover and its beauty constantly evolves with each season.

Later that night I met up with my two friends Teddy and Rachel to hit up some tiny (literally) but amazing bars in his area. But beforehand we snuck up to the roof of a nearby building and I saw the most breathtaking 360 degree view of the city. We were at the bottom of Harlem and seeing Midtown from afar and all the bridges - there are few things as beautiful as that. You're surrounded entirely by artificial stars and there is an entire glow surrounding midtown as if it's a galaxy all on it's own.

On Saturday morning I woke up at the break of dawn in order to make the 2 1/2 hour journey from Harlem to Rockaway Beach in Queens. I'm impressed that I was able to make it in time with all those transfers (weekend subway service changes are frustrating). My group volunteered at the Bike Parade which featured local residents in crazy outfits and decorated bikes. It made me wish I had my bike with me as well! Then we went all the way back to Harlem (whew!) to beautify the Dog Park in the St. Nicholas Park. Doing that made me really want a dog of my own, specifically a Husky.

I guess this entire weekend has just made me realize I really want to live in NYC, own a bike, and raise a dog. Challenge accepted.

Lean With It, Rock With It

I've officially a college graduate. An alumni. It still hasn't kicked in and I'm predicting that it won't kick in until it's September and all my younger friends are heading back to campus for another academic year. Graduating is incredibly bittersweet but I'm so glad I was able to have the incredible experience that I've taken away from college. The past four years have been crazy and I wouldn't change a single minute of it for the world. I have met people that have changed my life for the better and I have met people that will be by my side for the rest of my life. No doubt in my mind.

Now that I'm settled back at home, it's time to start the job hunt (I really should've started earlier). Wish me luck!
