Move to the Ever-moving

Despite the slight drizzle this past Sunday, Jeremy and I headed to Central Park's East Meadow for a slightly damp but delicious picnic lunch. My favorite part about the photos that he took was the fact that they capture the tiny raindrops falling around us (including the natural frizz jumping out from the rest of my hair that comes from summer humidity). I love these little magical moments of our everyday lives and being able to capture them for eternity. They're short-lived and ordinary, but there's something about them that makes them more important than the bigger milestones in our relationship.

Another weekend has come and gone and I'm about ready to flop into bed and pass out. The weather has been incredible lately - cloudy, overcast skies with temperatures ranging from the mid-70's to the low 80's. My heart has a soft spot for weather exactly like this. Now if only the subway stations weren't mini-ovens that squeeze the sweat out of you.

I spent plenty of time with my boyfriend's two nephews this weekend and there's something about it that makes me feel so strangely adult. Maybe it's also because I'm not used to having family to visit since all of my family is across the country or overseas. Even my immediate family is less prone to having get togethers that often unless I initiate something. Makes me crave a visit to Taiwan just to be surrounded by family, even if I don't know them as well as I would want to.

Back to the 90s

Friday. Oh, how I love you. How I adore you.

Instead of hitting the bars, like my usual Fridays, I'm staying in with Jeremy to cook up some delicious noms and watch a movie about an evil, killing Santa Claus. Sounds pretty perfect to me.

I actually didn't plan on having my cardigan tied around my waist for this outfit. While carrying it outside, I realized it was way too hot for my arms to be covered and therefore proceeded to temporarily tie it as I adjusted the camera settings. When I caught my reflection in a nearby office window, my inner 90's kid decided that tying shit around your waist was cool again and so here you go. Jen with a sweater tied around her waist. How cool am I? Pretty damn cool.

Cool Winds Come Blowing

My body is confused by the weather. I mean, it's usually confused since it's been in between the summer heat wave and air conditioning turned up to the highest setting. But today, my body is really confused. Who knew I would walk outside to a cool breeze and temperatures in the 70's? (Besides the weatherman that is). I'm cherishing it while it lasts with cardigans galore and possibly jeans tomorrow. You guys...jeans.

Also, I discovered this gem of a dress in my parent's house during my visit back home last weekend. I can't believe I chose to leave it behind. Pretty sure the last time I styled it was in 2010. How much of a Throwback Thursday is that? Oh wait, there's always this one as well. Can we talk about how I still wear those shoes to this day? Some things never go out of style (aka I refuse to part with anything in my closet, aka hoarder).

Do you guys hold on to items in your closet for years or do you like to clean out the old stuff to make room for the new?

When They Question What Real Is

So I finally decided it was a time for a change on my blog. I'm always worried that my layout or my content gets stale, which is probably because I get antsy if anything in my life stays the same for too long. I definitely have a commitment problem when it comes to most things. Even having lived in New York City for a year, which was a dream of mine since I was a little girl, I'm already starting to get an itch to hit the road and plan out my next adventure (hopefully in the Pacific Northwest).

Let me know how the layout looks for you guys and whether or not there are any malfunctions and what not.

I know it's only the middle of the week but I'm already feeling pooped (as shown in the image below). Now that Hump Day is coming to an end, I'm heading to McCarren Park in Brooklyn with a few co-workers and watching The Craft. There's nothing quite like a movie outdoors with a handful of awesome people. Bring on the boozin' after sunset.

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

Every time I spend a weekend in New Jersey, I start to question why I'm still living the the city. The green grass, amazing views, driving for hours on end, and being surrounded by old friends and family - I miss all of it but I love that it's only a quick train ride away. Even though there's something to be said for public transit, I can't help but love having a car and knowing I can get anywhere I want to on my own terms. Ultimately, I want to find myself living in a town right outside of the city, where it's close enough to that hectic lifestyle but far enough to have some peace of mind.

Black on Black on Nude

I'm pretty sure this week is never ending. That might also be due to the fact that I've been so boggled down at work that I can barely find time to breathe, so every hour and every minute drags on. It's a good thing I love what I do.

I'm ending the day on a really good and relaxing note though. My boyfriend and his older brother are heading into the city to meet up with one of his older brother's old students. They invited me along and it'll be nice just to walk around the city as if I was a tourist again. Then again, with the heat wave this week I'm starting to rethink whether or not being outside is the best idea.

Also, could I be wearing more black? Yes, I guess I could be.

Working Out with Cory Vines

Does working out make you feel like the way I look in the picture above? Just thinking about it makes me cringe, especially with the summer temperatures. Once the sun comes up, all I want to do is bask in air conditioning and watch Netflix (gotta catch up on my Arrested Development).

That also means I'm spending plenty of time lying on my ass and not getting any sort of exercise in my daily routine. The older I get, the more I realize that it's good to stay active and develop some sort of workout routine on a weekly basis, even if it's really light.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Cory Vines racerback tank and it's officially my new favorite shirt to work out in. It fits me perfectly and brings some extremely welcome color to my exercise routine. To me, feeling good about myself while working out is just as important as the work out itself. If I feel disgusting, I'd rather just pop some extra butter popcorn in the microwave and continue to sink further into my self-pity party. Wearing an awesome workout outfit gets me motivated to put it to good use and feel my best. Oh, and did I mention how sick the fabric is? Super breathable and super soft.

I love that the company itself puts so much effort and personal ties into the products it pushes out. Their passion for what they create shows in the high quality of their clothing. They'll be releasing other pieces in the next few months, such as henleys and leggings, and I can't wait to check them out.

Stay tuned for an upcoming Cory vines giveaway and you might just find one of these bad boy tanks in your mailbox. ;)
