Cleaning Up a Storm

Gap Sweater, Chambray Shirt (similar)
Forever 21 Jeans
First Boots c/o Jellypop

Looking at my shoe collection, I decided these Jellypop boots, as fashionable as they were, would be the best choice when it came to cleaning out houses that were affected by Hurricane Sandy. Sure enough, they did the job despite suffering some rough scratches and stains. Things are better once they're worn in though, right?

Actually being in New Jersey, seeing all the damage first hand, and meeting some of the hurricane victims, definitely put everything in perspective. When you're just looking at pictures online, of course things look bad. But things are even worse at ground level. We traveled from house to house to see who needed help moving furniture out, removing flooring/carpeting, and more. It's incredible how grateful these people are, even if you only help move two to three pieces of furniture. Just knowing that strangers are willing to lend a hand is so appreciated. One woman had lived in her home for over forty years and she had lost her home, her car, and had no money for repairs. Although there was nothing we could do to help her, she hugged each and every one of us for just offering. Hopefully I'll be able to go back down again later this month because there is so much more to be done. If you guys would like to help out from afar, consider donating to Red Cross!

My mom has been helping friends clean too, its hard to be so far away when something like this happens! So thank you!
Hope you're having a beautiful day!
