When I say I'm dreaming of the North West, I'm not talking about Kanye and Kim's love child. No sir. I've been itching to jump on a plane and get a much needed change of scenery for so long, so yesterday Jeremy and I bought tickets to visit Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver at the end of December to celebrate the New Year. I haven't been back to the West Coast since I lived there back in 1996 which seems like forever ago.
I know a handful of you guys are from that general area - any suggestions? Places we absolutely, positively, need to visit? Affordable and/or important places to stay? Transportation? Neighborhoods to visit? Would love some suggestions since we're absolute n00bs when it comes to the Pacific Northwest.
Oh, and of course, anyone want to meet up? ;)
that sounds like an awesome trip! I'm much more of a midwest/east coast girl, but I can't wait to hear about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteAhhh have fun! The Pacific Northwest seems so magical :)
ReplyDeleteAnywho, love the sweater you're wearing here. The colors are great!

I love this outfit! I just left the PNW, but those were the only big cities I had ever been to before I moved. While you're in Seattle you should try to go to one of the parks in the city that overlooks everything (Kerry park or even Gasworks) - although I'm sure the weather will be awful haha. When I visited Portland I loved coco donuts and salt and straw, and the NW district was my favorite. Haven't spent too much time in Vancouver but I loved walking around there! Then there's the area (Granville?) that everyone parties in- it totally amazed me how lively it is all night there. Have you been to any of those areas? I want to go back for the holidays so bad, I really wish I could!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely making sure I get to one of those overlook areas in Seattle and Granville in the evening in Vancouver. Salt and Straw also sounds incredible. Thanks, Angela! :)
DeleteDon't forget Gastown, Chinatown, Granville Island, and the electronic music scene in Vancouver! Pots great too :)
ReplyDeleteAdding those to my list! You rock. :)
DeleteLove your sweater.. Sounds excited. :)

Oh, oh, oh! In Portland you NEED to stay at the Kennedy School (a hotel in a former school building. It is a McMenamin's establishment, all of which are awesome, but this is especially cool. The classrooms were turned into rooms, there's a bar in "detention" where one could even smoke cigars, lol. It sounds strange but was one of our favorite parts of our Portland trip. Check it out here: http://www.mcmenamins.com/KennedySchool )
ReplyDeleteAlso, that sweater is adorable.
The Kennedy School looks amazing! It might be a bit out of our budget but fingers crossed. :)
DeleteVancouver is DA BOMB, you'll love it. I wish I was going to be there but it's too pricey to visit my brother that time of year. Granville island fo sho. There's about a million ahmazing resteraunts there.
ReplyDeleteThis sweater is fantastic, looks so cozy!!
Gonna get chubby at Granville Island, for sure. ;)
DeleteLove the sweater! I've been obsessed with comfy sweaters ever since fall hit.

So pretty, I love the sweater!!
ReplyDeletePortland: Stumptown Coffee, hands down. Theres a "air tram" up to OHSU--I highly recommend the $4 round trip ride for the amazing views of the city. Multnomah Falls is a great day trip if you have a car. If not, you can get to Forest Park/the zoo/and arboretum via public transportation. Haystack rock is neat, again if you have a car. Spend a day walking around downtown. Drink coffee everyday. Visit some of the breweries. You'll see a lot of cool stuff! Public transit is great and cheaper than parking downtown. Voodoo donuts are overrated, but obligatory.
ReplyDeleteSeattle: REI (it's seriously awesome, and the flagship store). There's a ferris wheel on the waterfront thats silly and fun. World Spice Market. I LOVED the Chihuly garden below the Space Needle. It's expensive, but amazing.
Just wanted to let you know you're amazing. <3
