I remember always loving the winter when I was younger, spending my days anticipating winter wonderlands and snow days. Now, living in New York City, I've started to dread the colder weather. Since the streets are heated from all the activity underground, it makes it hard for any sort of snow to stick to the sidewalks, so you just have the bitter cold but none of the winter beauty.

I've only just accepted trench coat weather and I'm too stubborn to pull out my heavy duty coats and jackets. My denial that winter is right around the corner is usually also the way I get sick. Whomp.

I recently lost my favorite headphones and I've resorted to stealing Jeremy's big ass headphones for my morning and evening commutes. They straight up make me look like someone trying too hard to be a hipster, a basic bitch, or a healthy combination of the two. But I have no shame so they work just fine. Just fine.

Comfort Above All

This is my dream outfit. Hands down, dream outfit. Sweater? Check. Boyfriend jeans? Check. Shoes that don't require socks? Check. Comfortable? Check, check, check.

I've been such a lush this weekend with my food intake. Any time I'm not doing anything? I've been filling those moments with plenty of noms. No complaints here though, and especially not in my stomach. Last night, Jeremy and I headed to a potluck with a few of my co-workers that also live in the Astoria area. Potlucks are always dangerous because everyone brings a dish big enough to feed three families and then you end up with leftovers for a month. Guess there are bigger problems than having way too much food though.

Now to end the weekend with a evening showing of Gone Girl. I don't know much about it but my friends are super excited and more familiar with the book itself. Ben Affleck, show me whatchu got.

Meant to be Somewhere Else

It's such a beautiful, rainy morning right now and I'm sneaking in some peace and quiet time just for myself. Well, if you don't count the indie pop blasting in the background ("blasting" as in as loud as possible without waking Jeremy). I've been so busy lately with everything going on at work that I've really underestimated taking the time just to be alone.

Then again, at the same time I have moments where I'm afraid to be alone because I tend to think too much. And when I think too much, I get scared. Scared of the future, scared of things I may or may not end up regretting, scared of the possibility that I'm meant to be somewhere else. When I'm alone for too long I just feel exhausted from all the heaviness that slowly creeps out of my head and onto my shoulders; then I carry that weight around with me all day long. But then you realize all you have to do is breathe.

Weekend, oh how I needed you.

My head and my heart have been all over the place the past few weeks, especially with the changing weather, the shifts in my career, and my first business trip. At some points I even forgot I had this bad boy patiently waiting for me on the interwebs, but it's hard to completely let go of it no matter how busy things get. So, I'm back.

But You're Still the Same

Astoria is filled with so many restaurants, bars, stores, and good times all around that I can never make up my indecisive mind when it's time to step outside of my apartment. I'm pretty sure my list of places to eat is already past the 100-mark; why do they all have to be so damn delicious? Not really a problem though, right? Just kidding, it's a problem. Mayday, mayday!

Jeremy and I had a small Housewarming yesterday which gave us even more opportunities to explore Astoria. The best part of it all though was most definitely the brunch afterward. We dropped by Queen's Comfort and I've literally never had a brunch as orgasmic as this one. Two words: Disco Tots.

P.S. Also, can you talk about a desperate need for a bang trim? Good thing I got one this past weekend from a guy named Dragon. Dragon.
