Underneath the Christmas Tree

Lately I've been seeing so many pictures on both Facebook and Twitter about people putting up their Christmas trees and it's making me a little bit homesick. My family doesn't really celebrate the holidays anymore, especially ever since my brother and I passed puberty. I'm really the only one in my family who gets excited about celebrating anything at all, even birthdays, and I guess I'm crazy enough about them for my entire family. I know the tree won't go up unless I do it myself and my finals aren't over until 2-3 days before Christmas. This just means I'll be forcing my family to keep the tree up until March. >:)

My roommate took these pictures in the downtown area near our campus and the streets were already decorated for the holidays. I love when all of a sudden there are red ribbons, poinsettias, strings of lights, and pine wreaths everywhere you look! There's nothing more magical than this time of year. I can't wait until everything is covered in a blanket of snow but, considering that the weather is still in the high 50's these days, I doubt there will be any white covering the town anytime soon.

  1. SOSO pretty as always, also LOVING that forest green on you. Christmas has always been something we pretty much force onto our parents.. my mom stopped getting us those little chocolate advent calendars though. Sad days.

p.s. who doesn't want their tree up until March? ;)

  2. I can't believe your finals last so long! Mine are over this week. My roommates and I don't have a real tree up but we have decorations all over our house--it basically looks like Christmas threw up in here, and I don't hate it. ;)

Love this basic combo! Cute pea coat too.

  4. Gah, your amazing layering skills and timeless dressing make me green with envy every time! Your wardrobe is flawless, my dear :) You could buy some cheap lights at a drugstore and put them on the window in your room for a little holiday cheer!! Make 'em twinkle?!

  5. That is such a bummer that your family doesn't really celebrate Christmas anymore:( My parent live in a perpetual world where my sister and I are still under the age of 10 and get us the same crap year after year in our stockings. Last year I got a Winnie the Pooh washcloth.

  7. Oh Jen...you've seriously mastered the sweater over button down look! Love it! This is so festive! I can't believe your semester/finals go for that long. It's a crime! I also can't believe you want it to be colder than 50-degrees. It's getting in the 40's here at nights, and I. CANNOT. STAND. IT. I'm such a wimp!
