I remember when I was younger, my favorite part of the holidays (besides getting presents, of course) was driving around whatever town we lived in at the time and looking at all the holiday decorations. My family was never much for decorating our own apartments but that didn't stop us from getting into the holiday spirit. Being in the city during the holidays is a completely different experience compared to suburbia. It's more magical in a way since there's just so much more magic packed into one city. In smaller towns, you drive a few blocks and you'll see maybe three or four decorated houses. If you're lucky you'll catch a house completely decked out in flashing lights and reindeer. But when you're in the city, you walk one block and you've already seen multiple stores with christmas trees and tons of apartments with lights hanging off their fire escapes. It's incredibly to see so many different people embracing the festive spirit in their own unique ways.
In my own apartment, my roommates and I picked up a tree last weekend and we just finished decorating it with incredibly cheap lights and ornaments. It's my first time having a real tree and it's just a completely more authentic feel than a plastic one you buy in stores. We're having an ugly sweater party tomorrow night so I'll be sure to snap some shots of our set up! Have you guys started decorating yet?
so in love with your simple and mature style! such an inspiration :)
ReplyDeletewe haven't decorated at all - my parents are on holiday in asia and aren't coming back until after christmas, so my brother and I haven't bothered putting anything up. I should at least put up some stockings or something though :)

I love our campus because it's all lit up at night with christmas decorations. :) Kind of like a little mini-city in itself, but I really would like to see a *real* city like yours all lit up one day. It sounds ever so magical!

ReplyDeleteSeeing the holiday decorations is a favorite part of the season for me too.
ReplyDeleteI love the deep green of these pants. They are a great match for the b&w polka dots and seem to fit the season without seeming too gimmicky.
