SLIDER

JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

Gotta Push It to the Limit

When I first decided to pair together a mustard skirt and a green cardigan, I thought I was a genius color mixer who wasn't afraid to take risks. Then after I put them on and looked in the mirror, I thought I looked like a five-year-old dressing herself up for the first day of Kindergarten. Then I thought, what's wrong with that? Over the past few months I've definitely been experimenting with color more often and I'm surprised that I'm having so much fun with it. I used to be scared of using bright and bold colors but I've learned there's nothing wrong with being silly from time to time, especially when it comes to fashion. There's nothing wrong with going a little crazy and sticking out like a sore thumb. Also, living in New York City means there's always someone crazier walking around to remind you that you look way more normal than at least one other person.

  2. Not gonna lie, I read that title and the Corbin Bleu's song started playing in my head...ah, old HSM obsessions...
Love your color mixing, and I won't lie, pretty jealous of that NYC fact! Here in Idaho, if you dress out of the norm, you can pretty much guarantee you are the only crazy walking around...this happens to me far too often >_<

  4. Little Kindergarten girl is always a good look. They're rarely over the top, but they don't shy away from color either...so it makes for a bold, but sweet and demure look. Love the color combo!

  6. Even if you end up being the craziest person walking down the street, just think of it this way...all eyes will be on you!

  9. Dude, kindergartners totally have the best style. They're so bright and cheery. I dressed myself when I was a wee child, and I always was bright and matchy-matchy. Nothin' wrong with it!

Hehe, but this outfit is so pretty, and I love it, Jen. You remind me of a sunflower! A cute little sunflower. I adore how bright and pretty that skirt is, and against the green, it's even more lovely.

  10. Perhaps this is a testament to my own love of mixing different colors, but I seriously don't think this looks crazy at all, especially with the neutrals you paired it with! I love the yellow skirt! I definitely think NYC is a great place to experiment with style! Love that last picture of the cute loafers too :)

  12. Um, well know I feel conflicted. I thought it was a rather sophisticated color palette, instead of kindergarten (a kindergarten girl won't wear an outfit unless there is pink or purple in it, pretty sure. I'm not sure they even make clothes for five year olds without those colors anymore...or maybe the kindergarteners just wore me out today!)

I think, no matter where you're inspiration is from, you look lovely.

  14. I love your Urban Outfitters mustard coloured skirt and the look of your outfit as a whole. I love the dance movement in the second photo. Your green cardigan, mustard coloured skirt, white blouse and black tights look great together.

  17. This quote is why you are awesome. "Also, living in New York City means there's always someone crazier walking around to remind you that you look way more normal than at least one other person." So true, even here on the other coast :)

Also, those Pink & Pepper flats are going on my wish list!
