JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

My Head is a Jungle

Urban Outfitters Long White Cardigan (similar), ASOS Striped Crop Top (similar), Zara Rust Scalloped Skirt (similar), House of Harlow 1960 Arabella Boots c/o LuLu*s (similar)

And once again, I'm pulling out classic pieces in my closet that have lasted me years and there's no better feeling. Meanwhile, everyone reading this is thinking, "What do you mean 'once again'?", as if I expect you guys to be keeping track of every time I'm doing so.

But anyway, back to my original point. Once I put on this top and skirt combination, my bank account and closet simultaneously started chanting my name and giving me high fives for investing in such timeless pieces (although neither qualify financially as investment pieces since I'm a quite the thrifty shopper - sup, sale sections). I've had this top since at least 2012 (worn here) and this skirt since at least 2011 (worn here) and I don't see them going away any time soon. All it takes is some extra love to keep those pieces lasting year after year and not losing shape.

Sadly, I wish I could say the same for that banana print dress hanging up in my closet because, as epic as I currently think it is, I don't see myself wearing that bad boy to any parent-teacher conferences in ten years.

  1. I love this outfit, it's so cozy for fall. And I love that the main pieces are all old pieces - I love pulling out old items and making them feel fresh again.

  3. old pieces are always the best! they are cozier and softer than the new pieces. one of my sister always asking me to give her old pieces that i don't want or intense to donate away. and she will re-wear them..and sometimes i surprised when she re-brought back the beauty of the old pieces. :)

  5. My oldest pieces are probably band tees from the Bamboozle days...but you're right -- those timeless classics that stick around for years make me feel so satisfied every time I wear them. I have these black booties that have stuck with me since fall 2012, and I think I can have them last at least one more year. In any case, props to you for taking care of that top and skirt so well for so long!
