DIY Closet Costumes | Using a Beige Bathrobe

1. The Dude from "The Big Lebowski"

This year I've been obsessed with finding rugs for my apartment (mainly to soften the noise of Jeff Goldblum - my second cat - running all over the place). And you know what? These rugs are really tying the room together. Plus, I figured I should put my bathrobe to good use and dress up as the The Dude, who really put them in the spotlight. Now good luck getting a rug into a bar.

The best thing about this costume? The more low effort the better. You're The Dude, for heaven's sake. Don't wear make-up.

2. Cat Lady

This isn't a costume.

But if it is, just wear your pajamas, grab a robe, and grab some (fake or real) cats. Slather on some lipstick (like, really slather it on) and just be a hot mess who can't stop talking about their cats. Throw in some curlers if you've got them.

3. Yoda from "Star Wars"

I kept bursting out in laughter while writing this post because usually my Halloween posts are somewhat fashionable (or at least pleasing to the eye). But the more you scroll through this post the more I imagine people cringing and wondering if I've lost my mind. Like, what even is this last Yoda costume?

But to be honest, I couldn't think of any other costume that would require a bathrobe aside from a sexy woman taking a bath, which I'm sure has been done before in a nearby college. So crappy, half-assed Yoda, here you go. At least I got his three finger look down, right?

  1. I know I said this last post, but I really do love you, man.

Also, cat lady, yeah... good luck getting real cats to stay grabbed. But then, we are cat ladies, and our natural environment is the household. Excellent excuse to get people to come to you instead of go to them! "I can't leave part of the costume behind!"

  2. OMG! I love your sense of humor. The cat lady face made me both scared and happy! I actually really love that these aren't conventional "fashionable" costumes :D

  3. I lost it at the Yoda costume. I didn't even know the first costume was The Dude - I was wondering if you were supposed to be homeless. Anyways, the facial expressions here are just gold.
