JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

Eats and More Eats in Elmhurst

After so many weekends spent outside of Astoria (heading to south Jersey for a friend's wedding and driving even more south to Maryland to see another friend's baby - are we getting old?), it was nice to just spend some time in our apartment this weekend. We were able to get our lives back in order, putt away clothes that have been making a home for themselves in suitcases and backpacks, and give the kitties infinite cuddles and head rubs. It's times like this when I remember how grateful I am to have a home I love to come back to; a home that I would pick over traveling the world.

But because our wanderlust is still hanging over our heads, we decided to take a local adventure and head further east into Queens and check out Elmhurst for an afternoon of Chinese food. We started off at Lao Bei Fang Dumping House and surprisingly opted for tea eggs (my favorite) and savory and extremely-filling bowls of beef/lamb noodle soup (with hand-pulled noodles) instead of their infamous dumplings. Then we headed to the nearby Asian supermarket and stocked up on all the goodies I grew up eating. And finally, because we decided enough wasn't enough, we dragged our heavy, heavy canvas bags of food to get bubble tea. And now I'm a lard sitting on my couch feeling oh-so content. All days should be spent surrounded by food.
