SLIDER

JennifHsieh is a space for my rambling thoughts and snaps of my everyday style. I'm based in Astoria, Queens and I share a home with my two derpy cats and my equally derpy fiancé.

The Rising Sun

One of my all-time favorite things to do in the world is to watch the sun rise. I always love the feeling of driving early in the morning as if I'm racing the sun to the horizon. The sun always wins, of course, but I put up a good fight (or so the police officers say with their speeding tickets). Despite our exhaustion, Jeremy and I drove to the beach this morning just in time to catch the sun rising. It was a little chillier than I expected it to be and I remember wishing that I wore pants instead of my maxi dress.  The trip was still worth it though since we grabbed the most delicious and filling breakfast afterward. Now my belly is full of omelette and potatoes. So satisfied.

The more I look through my blog, the more I realize that my style has definitely gotten simpler over the years. I remember when I first started blogging, I didn't know what my personal style was and I always thought you had to incorporate a million things into your outfit in order to be stylish. I'd wear necklaces even though I didn't like necklaces because what's an outfit without accessories? Now that I'm comfortable with my closet and the clothes that I put on my back, I find myself gravitating towards simple outfits that focus on comfort. You'll rarely see me with jewelry, purses, or hats (mainly because my head is too big to fit one) and I'm completely okay with that because I wouldn't feel like myself with them on. Now the only problem is figuring out what to do with all the jewelry I accumulated over the years. I'm pretty sure my roommates get more use out of them than I do.

  1. MOST. FAVORITE. POST. EVER!!!
Next time I'm there, let's go watch a sun rise since I've never really seen one! And then I can take you to a gorgeous sun set over here on the west coast when you come :) I've realized the same thing. I used to wear a bunch of accessories and was more daring with prints and tights. My jewelry now just hangs on my dress form as decoration hehe. I miss you!

  3. I think blogging is such a great way to find what your style really is. I really love that you can find, in the blogosphere, every end of the spectrum when it comes to styles. I really like simple too. It's just more comfortable most of the time :)

  8. hello jen! it's really been a while since i've been here...i've been in and out of blogging since last year and i definitely need to make up.

i can completely relate on looking back over the years and how our styles have evolved. i mean, i'm still the same bangles-wearing, excessorizing girl but i now choose clothes that represent only me. i used to try different styles because i thought they were cute by definition of other people.

ps. i love how your style has evolved...you're always the epitomy of simplicity with an impact. <3
