Snippets of my Midtown Weekend
Pershing Square near Grand Central | Group of Tourists | Puffy Vest | From Where I Stand | Crossing the Street | Telephone Line Flock | Walking Along Park Avenue | 6 Train Uptown | Grand Central Subway Station
Here are a few pictures that I snapped while I was out adventuring in the city this past weekend. I kept to Midtown (near Grand Central) and I did a lot of random walking with absolutely no destination in mind. I passed by an H&M and an Urban Outfitters and I couldn't resist stopping by. Luckily for me, I was able to resist the temptation to buy anything so I was able to walk out empty handed. My wallet was pretty damn happy about that. I normally don't get to take my camera out with me on little adventures like this (unless I have an outfit picture in the works) but I want to remember what life looked like through my eyes when I was twenty-one and just entering the working world. A world independent from my family. Imagine how different New York City might look in just a few years. How different the people will seem.
But on another note, I just want to say an extremely genuine thank you to everyone who commented regarding my late-night post about my own self-confidence. Waking up to so much reassurance was mind boggling and overwhelming and it made me realize that I'm not alone. That it's not just about appearances, even though in the fashion blogging world, it's sometimes incredibly hard not to compare yourself to someone else. There have been so many times where I get sick of it and I just want to stop blogging; but then you guys help me realize why I blog in the first place. Why I love it so incredibly much. It's people like you, and you, and you (How cheesy am I? Let's be honest now.) that I find myself being able to relate to and connect with. It's being a part of a community full of people who are similar to myself - people that have the same insecurities, the same fears, and the same dreams.
I know it'll take a long time for me to strengthen my self-confidence and stop worrying so much about how my face looks in a picture (after all, confidence doesn't grow overnight), but at this point I know I'll only be heading in one direction, and that's up. :)
looks fun in there. :)

ReplyDeleteThese snippets of city life are wonderful. My favorite is the one with the pidgeons on the power lines... how cool is that?! Their silouettes are so nice.
Love the pictures, sounds like a fun adventure and I am SO impressed that you were able to walk out of those stores without anything. Major self control.
