The Wild Duck Chase

Even though Thanksgiving has come and gone, I haven't even begun to fill my belly with disgusting amounts of food or drink a few too many glasses of wine to keep myself sane. Since my family is on the west coast this year, I'm spending the long weekend with Jeremy's families. It's been a little lonely not being able to hop on a train to make a quick visit to my parents, so it's nice having a second family in the meantime until I can hop on a plane.

At Jeremy's mom's Thanksgiving, we usually all agree on letting another turkey roam free and opting for some ducks instead. This isn't because we're nice pro-turkey people, don't get the wrong idea (I heard this one podcast about this crazy-ass attacking turkey named Tom); it's only because we prefer nomming on ducks. But let me tell you, it's been a wild duck chase all weekend long trying to get it from a local farmer. We've been driving all over North Jersey trying to get our hands on these ducks, from the farmer's wife's house to farmer's markets that they sell at. Somehow the ducks his mom reserved just keep ending up at the opposite location we travel to. But today...today is the day we get the ducks. My determination outweighs their ability to hide from our grubby, hungry hands.

Hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving is currently recovering from too much family love and too many hearty meals!

  2. You look lovely... also- I had no idea there were duck farms (people mostly hunt them around here, but it totally makes sense for them to be a farm animal raised for meat too.... ) Hope they were tasty. Happy Thanksgiving!
