2015 was definitely the year I fell in love with overalls. Not because I needed them for practical reasons, like working the rails in the midwest, but because I loved how simple they were and how many pockets they had (women's jeans still need to step up their pocket game; gimme those cargo pants).
And now to continue my new obsession for the 70's (or I guess everyone's current obsession for the 70's) I've taken on flares, or as I affectionately like to call them...bell bottoms. I remember when these were the standard for jeans when I was younger. If you wore skinny jeans you were pretty lame and everyone silently judged you for not having pant legs flapping around every which way. I actually tried to rock a really old pair of flares back in 2010, and failed miserably (but I wouldn't admit it then). If I had known they would've made yet another round in fashion history I probably would have held on to them and sold them for millions. Just kidding, they would have sold for like $10. Jackpot.
Just you wait, the next thing you know I'll be really into the 70's and pairing these flares with bold patterned button-downs with most of the buttons undone, showing off my bounty of chest hair. Oh wait, I already do that...
You have such a great style! I love the coat and hat!

You're hilarious, Jen! It'll be a very long time before you can sell old flare jeans for millions (eons). I remember trying to selling back an old pair of mine at Plato's Closet right around the time flare was becoming "in" again, and they rejected my sale. So it may take more than a bold trend to make flares profitable.
ReplyDeleteThey can still be super stylish though, as you prove here! Clearly the Plato's Closet lady knew nothing -- I love this look :)
