The Shoddy Handmade Denim Skirt

H&M Distressed Denim Skirt (similar), H&M Mock-Turtleneck Striped Bodysuit (similar, similar), Zara Tan Suede Sandals (similar, similar), Urban Outfitters Black Mini-Backpack (similar)

I didn't find myself doing too much this NYFW, aside from the Jasmine Chong S/S 17 showroom and the Tumblr & Tipsy show (where this outfit was taken). Year after year, I find myself drifting further and further away from the fashion world and somehow it feels right. For a younger "fashion-minded" Jen, I would say that I peaked in 2013 when the Wall Street Journal called me a style influencer and I sat front row at Mercedes Benz. For a more "current" Jen, I would say I'm infinitely more comfortable in the life I'm living now, further away from the madness that I never quite fit into.

Wearing a denim skirt actually reminds me of the time I took Fashion Design in high school, with the idea that it would be my first dive into the fashion world. Turns out, you have to learn a shit ton of sewing before you even start designing shit ... in Fashion Design II. I never made it that far, but I left the class with a shoddy denim skirt that I created out of old denim shorts that symbolizes how I will always fit into the fashion world. I'll always be the shoddy, handmade denim skirt in a world of designer skirts. But like, I was so proud of it. Am so proud of it.

Love your style! Even you are perhaps not the same
active Jen, you have not lost sense in style and

But you shush, I wish I had half the skill necessary to turn shorts into a skirt! You're basically a magician, and you styled your handmade skirt excellently ♥
