Got Me In A Haze Running For Cover

Got Me In A Haze Running For Cover

I'm a writer! I'm a writer! I'm a writer! But not really, although if a writer is just someone who writes words, I'm pretty sure I am one. We all know that writers are so much more than that though. But for now, I'm sort of a writer. My friend is an editor for Uloop and she recruited me to write the occasional fashion-related article for Uloop as a college alum. For those of you that know me, it might seem kind of strange, especially since I'm not that interested in fashion on a larger-scale. Weird, right? Especially since I have a fashion blog, which I strategically called a personal style blog (there is a difference, I swear). I just got my first article published on Uloop though and I'd love it if you guys would go check it out and give it some love. Leave comments telling me how silly it is or how much you secretly read it over and over and over again. Thanks in advance for being the best readers out there.

When I asked my roommate how the pictures looked after he snapped a few shots, he goes, "...it looks like you're standing in the rain". So I apologize for looking a little bit damp in my photos but even the rain couldn't stop me from striking a couple of poses on a street corner like a, well, you know - trying to keep it classy on my blog. ;)

Santas Take Over New York City

Santas Take Over New York City

Yes, please take a look at my ridiculous cardboard carrot nose, which was constructed in 15 seconds flat. And yes, also notice that it's being held on by my bra strap since I didn't think to attached it to some string before heading out to the bars. This is a no judgement zone.

Now to explain why that nose even exists in the first place, I dressed up as a snowman for Santacon NYC this past Saturday. Santacon is pretty much a day where hundreds of people dressed like Santa, or other various holiday themed costumes, take over the city. Most people treat it like a giant, city bar crawl but the people behind the event really stress the charity aspect. All of the participating bars donate a portion of their proceeds to Toys for Tots and participants are encouraged to bring canned food to donate to local food banks, especially after the damage from Hurricane Sandy. There's a lot of controversy when it comes to Santacon, especially since New Yorkers complain that the Santacon participants often get too drunk and ruin the city atmosphere for tourists and natives alike. I tried to keep my jolly celebrations within my group of friends and overall, I had an amazing time.

Did any of you go to a Santacon in your area?

Today I Don't Feel Like Doing Anything

Today I Don't Feel Like Doing Anything

Forever 21 Denim Jacket, Bow Ring
Charming Ivory Lace Dress c/o Lulu*s
H&M Belt
Urban Outfitters Heels (similar)

I've been looking for that perfect, light denim jacket for over a year now and I keep holding out to fall in love with one that I'll find myself wearing for years to come. I found that bad boy in Forever 21, a store that I rarely find myself in anymore, earlier this week. I was hoping to find a super cheap version at a local thrift shop but they would either be too worn out or too large in size. I'll try to refrain from over wearing it on the blog but no promises here.

Santacon yesterday was absolute insanity but I'll wait for my next blog post to share my thoughts and pictures. I woke up today completely exhausted, even with about 10-11 hours of sleep, so I'm super thankful I didn't plan on doing anything this Sunday except for lounging around like this. After a short Skype session with Jeremy later this afternoon, I'm going to catch a late showing of Life of Pi with my roommate, Rob. Relaxing Sunday, commence!

When Did Your Heart Go Missing?

When Did Your Heart Go Missing?

Gap Cardigan
Macy's Blouse (similar)
H&M Raspberry Jeans (similar)
Ruffle Flats c/o Pink & Pepper
Shoulder Bag c/o OASAP

With the sun setting earlier and earlier these days, it's hard to sneak in pictures during the work week without bothering one of my co-workers to snap some shots. This was one of those outfits that just came together so easily - an outfit that's actually effortless.

I feel pretty exhausted this morning since the Holiday season means parties on parties on parties, but at the same time I'm also super energized because the Holiday season means parties on parties on parties. Thursday night was my company's holiday bar and any event that has a two hour premium happy hour equals a really good time. My first ever office holiday party was an epic success and here's to many more! Last night we celebrated my roommate's 23rd birthday and she classed it up with fancy cheeses, crackers, sangria, and quiche. And today? It's Santacon in New York City and it's about to get pretty jolly this afternoon. ;)

What are you guys up to this weekend?

But She Walks The Streets So Mean

But She Walks The Streets So Mean

Joe Fresh Chambray Shirt (similar)
H&M Striped Dress (similar), Belt
ASOS Over the Knee Socks
Jackie Boots c/o Blowfish Shoes

So first, I just want to say a huge thank you to all my readers who have already voted for my Level 99 USA look in their blogger contest! Your comments are the sweetest and I can't stop smiling every time I see a new one appear. You guys make me a very lucky blogger. If you haven't voted yet, and want to, click here and like and comment the post! It takes 5 seconds - promise. If I win, one of you lucky voters will win the pair I'm wearing! ;)

But enough about that. The week has been passing by at a pretty moderate speed. I wish it would speed by just a little bit faster though since this weekend is Santacon NYC. According to their definition, Santacon is a "non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year for absolutely no reason". I kind of love it. There's a charity aspect where each participant is encouraged to bring two cans of food to donate, which I'll definitely be doing. Although it's been proven that monetary donations benefit food banks much more, it'll be nice to help in whatever way I can. Are any fellow NYC'ers attending too? Let's meet up! I'm debating on being a reindeer or a snowman. Or maybe a Christmas tree. Suggestions? :)
