California Road Trip | Day 7/10: Rancho del Roosevelt
Before we approached out last stop, Los Angeles, Jeremy and I decided to make a quick detour and visit the wonder that is Joshua Tree. We ended up pulling up to the Joshua Tree National Park a bit too late in the day, so we headed straight to our airBNB for the night, the Rancho del Roosevelt, to drop off our stuff.
You guys, this airBnB was the coolest. We were greeted by our host, Rohini, and her dog (who had boundless energy) and given a quick tour of the space. I know I'm only showing you the inside, but the outside is just as incredible, if not more incredible. We're smack dab in the middle of the dessert so we're surrounded by wildlife; then, our hosts also decorated the space with random antiques, even including a stove filled with plants. Did I mention they have a garage that's turned into a BYOB bar you can hang out in? And the nights. Oh, the star-filled night sky took my breath away. In New York City, I'm used to seeing the lights of the skyscrapers, so seeing natural lights from the stars was such a breath of fresh air. Obviously also made 100x better looking at them from a hammock.
It was hard leaving but hopefully we'll be back soon. The highest, star-filled recommendations for this place.
Oh, it's lovely! the vintage feel is rockin' it!! I've always wanted a record collection - I hope they had some good stuff! and Joshua Tree... *deep sigh* National parks are something that need to play a part of everyone's life. My mom has a map of all the national parks in the country and I was so sad because 90% of them are on the west coast and all I want is just one awesome national park in my state... is that too much to ask??
ReplyDeleteand the stars, the STARS! In San Jose (where we lived for four years) they always dimmed the lights because there was an observatory up in the foot hills. So I had the best of both worlds - city lights and starry nights (that was not supposed to rhyme.) Every summer we'd drag sleeping bags out to our backyard and lay under the stars with our glow sticks. (gosh was it cold, though!) No tent is definitely the way to go!! Now we're a little further into the country and I still love the stars, but I miss the city (maybe it's just me but I love cars on the high way! I could fall asleep to city traffic any day.)
all your air bnbs are the COOLEST SPOTS EVAAAHH!!!
ReplyDeletetake me the next time you go on a road trip, ahaha!
Have a great day!
