Lately it has been harder and harder to get into the Thanksgiving mindset. Don't get me wrong, my stomach is always in the mindset of eating a crapload of food, especially if it involves massive amounts of mashed potatoes. #TeamPotatoes4Ever But I'm talking about the "thankful" mindset, where you can just take time to focus on the things you're grateful for in this life you're given. With all the negativity swirling around in the media and hanging over our heads, it's hard not to get sucked into a mentally destructive vacuum of shitty and angry emotions.
Then I take a step back and just breathe. And remind myself that there's no guilt in happiness during a greater moment of pain. If anything, this is a time that needs more positive energy to keep us going each and every day. So here's to another Thanksgiving full of all the people I love, unifying together to build and fight for a better future, no matter what or who may get in our way.
Have a beautiful and loving Thanksgiving to all celebrating today.
P.S. Yes, I will be eating pumpkin pie tonight to honor not the holiday, but my perfectly matching outfit. Cheers!
