The Right Words Were Always Hard to Find

Let me just tell you guys, these self portraits were beyond hard to take. First, I realized that one of the legs of my tripod was broken so I had to balance the broken leg on the side of a tree. Then, I realized I forgot the thing that connects my camera to the tripod, so I had to carefully balance it on the tripod, using the same tree for support. Then I had to use the tall grass as a focusing point to manually focus the camera, which made it difficult to decide how far away to stand since all the grass looks the same everywhere. And then don't even get me started on the heat. But with some editing magic I managed to salvage a few. :)

I think the heat started getting to me in some of these pictures. There weren't many normal ones. And I'm also super Asian in these pictures considering you can't see my eyes in the majority of the photos.

So I just got a job at a new store opening up at my mall: Love Culture. My interview was literally only about 4 minutes. It opens up in a week or two and I have orientation today! I'm pretty excited, especially since I'm low on cash and it pays a little more than my last job.

I'm craving a road trip this summer but I have no idea where to go. My dad said if it's over 6 hours there's no way in hell I'm driving (apparently that's what planes are for). Any suggestions? :)

Shock Me Like an Electic Eel

I was planning on taking self-portraits with these electrical towers. I passed by them everyday on my way to elementary school in the typical, big, yellow bus so they remind me of my childhood. When I was about to head over one of my best friends called me and told me to pick him up from the train station. Therefore, I casually brought up having to take pictures for my blog and he offered to help out. After a quick lesson on how to use my camera, he got the hang of it and snapped some shots. I'm getting good at this whole enslaving my friends thing ;)

I'm volunteering at a place called Better World Cafe in a couple of hours and I can't wait! It's a cafe where you can choose how much you want to pay for your food and no one is turned down. All of the workers are volunteers and no one goes hungry. If you guys are ever in the Central NJ area you should definitely check it out. :)

My friend snapped this shot above because he thought it was funny I was only a little dot. He's stupid. Plus, now you can see all the weeds and the photo location isn't as beautiful. It's all about capturing the right angle. :P

Day in the Park

Day in the Park

So my Memorial Day weekend is turning out to be pretty chill. There's not really a lot going on and I'm just bonding with my family for the most part. I'm also becoming quickly addicted to Glee. A ton of my friends have been obsessed with it and I swore I would never turn into one of them. I just watched four episodes in a row and I think I'm about to watch another one. I'm pretty sure I have a ton of work I should be doing but I just can't help myself! Don't judge me but I'm officially a gleek.

I got this adorable striped vintage top from Annie's etsy shop. All the pieces are beyond adorable (if only I had more money to spend) so definitely go check it out. She has a blog too! Her pictures are always fantastic and I love seeing where she takes all her photos. :)

This time I didn't have to resort to self-portraits. Two of my friends, who are beyond amazing by the way, and I went to the nearby park to catch up and relax. They took turns trying out my camera and snapping shots. I snapped a shot of them as well. I feel like I'm looking a little awkward in these photos, especially since we were all a bit awkward taking these pictures, haha. Oh, and thanks, Pooja, for the shot of me emptying the grass out of my shoes. <3

I went shopping today and got some giveaway goodies that I'm so excited to share with you guys. Be on the look out for it in the next day or two!

Lawnmowers and Hikers

It's hot outside. I'm craving a trip to the beach but none of my friends dare to go to the beach on Memorial Day weekend; parking is impossible and finding a decent spot on the beach will be hell. Why does the weather have be perfect for the shore this weekend? Why?!?

As you can see, it took some time for me to get the hang of self-portraits without a remote. The first few pictures aren't completely focused while the rest of the pictures are. I realized I would have to use manual focus instead of auto focus and it worked a lot better. 

While taking pictures I thought it'd be funny if I took a shot of me jumping. Right after taking the shot, I turned around, and the lawnmower was staring at me. Definitely didn't realize he was mowing the lawn. By the way, I'm at a park near my house. You'll see a lot more of my town with my summer pictures. 

I'm now going to try to enslave all my various friends as photographers. More and more of them are slowly learning about my blog and it's hard to keep it hidden from my friends. I'm learning to stop being so embarrassed about it as well.

You know what I haven't done in a while? A good ol' giveaway. I'm gonna start concocting some ideas! :)
