Kate Spade Fall 2014 Presentation

To kick off my mini-New York Fashion Week in the world of Jen, I took an hour off work to stop by the Kate Spade Fall 2014 presentation. I remembered falling in love with their Spring 2014 collection so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed this time around either. And guest what? I wasn't. Can we talk about all those details? From the miniature bows on the pumps to the crystal beading and feathers on that top. Not to mention fall is my favorite season, so I can never get enough of seeing coats on coats on coats.

The Fall 2014 collection was inspired by Deborah Lloyd's recent travels to Asia (and for those of you who don't know, she's the CCO of Kate Spade New York). In Asias, there's a strong emphasis on preserving and respecting their history and their past; however, at the same time they're so focused on developing new technologies in a way where they can both co-exist. The designs above are specifically focused on her inspirations from Shanghai. To quote Lloyd, "In Shanghai, surrounded by skyscrapers, you see the world through the smoky haze of a bygone era on the bund - shades of deco beige, rose, jade, orient red, and empress blue." But more importantly you guys, the handbags are absolute show stealers. Now if only the Chinese take-out box purse came with some chinese food already packed inside, amirite?

The remainder of the season's collection focused in on inspirations from Tokyo. Explains Lloyd, "In Tokyo, it's the high speed flashes of color - electric blue, metropolis green and shocking pink - popping out against grey, black and porcelain." The bright purples and greens were my absolute favorite and I couldn't help but take one too many photographs of those looks. It's inspiring me to try out richer, more vibrant colors once the weather starts warming up again. It doesn't always have to be about neutrals in my closet, I guess. ;)

I Want To Be Everything At Once

Another winter storm is supposed to hit New York City tonight and then this weekend is also going to be snow-covered. Honestly, I know everyone is complaining, but I ain't mad. Then again, I do have a ton of weekend plans coming up this weekend, due to NYFW and a friend's birthday, so that could lead to some complications. But how can you be mad at such beautiful winter wonderlands? Let it snow.

...I'm going to regret saying that aren't I? Stay warm and stay safe if you're expecting plenty of snow this week as well. It's going to get icy out there!

Oh, and don't forget to drop a question or two in my latest Q&A post. I'll be answering them this weekend!

Ask Questions, Get Answers

Have you ever wondered how I get my face lookin' the way it does? How I transitioned into a life living in New York City? How many times I brush my teeth on an average day? What sparked my interest in photography? Whether I like to wear toe socks, or ankle socks, or knee socks, or NO SOCKS AT ALL?

It's been almost three years since my last Q&A and a lot has changed. So whatever you want to know, drop it in the comments down below. Unless there isn't much you want to know at all.

GO!

If you haven't noticed (and you probably haven't), I took a few days off from blogging so I wouldn't find myself spending all my time in front of my laptop. Since my job revolves around social media, sometimes it gets hard having to come home and sit in front of my laptop again. Well, except for Netflix. I'll gladly sit in front of Netflix.

This has been a really, really nice weekend so far. I spent Friday night celebrating one of my best friend's birthdays and then caught up with a friend on Saturday over an incredibly delicious brunch. After heading for the evening to do my taxes (damn you, New York State for taking so much back), I'm now getting ready to head to Jeremy's to watch the superbowl with his brother's family. I can't decide who to root for since I'm not really passionate about either team and I love both cities equally. Soooo I guess it'll just depend on who has the better butts. Although I'll be too busy eating buffalo wings (hopefully) to notice. Nom nom nom.

What have you guys been up to this weekend so far? (No seriously, I want to know.)

On Armchairs and Phone Cases

Vintage Boy's Cardigan (similar) | Gray Dress c/o Popbasic (similar) | Urban Outfitters Black Ankle Boots | Mustard Phone Case c/o Born Pretty

Yes, I know.
It looks like I'm doing a jig in the photo above. Now that we have that out of the way...

I crossed something off my list of 2014 resolutions and it's not even February yet! Last night, I bought an armchair. That's right. It's been 24 hours and it's already taken the place in my heart reserved for "The Love of my Life". I came across it at the Salvation army for only $30 and it was exactly what I was looking for. It was already worn in, it was big enough to nap in, and had the perfect nooks toward the top for my head to rest in. And can we talk about the fact that I had budgeted $400 for the perfect one (I know, I know...I was really going all out for this armchair)? SO YOU GUYS...if I don't want to hang out with you because I have a date with my armchair, I apologize. But I don't...because I have no shame in being in love with a piece of furniture.

On a less strange note, I got a new phone case that I'm actually head over heels in love with. For a few months I decided I liked the look of my phone without a case, which lead to me cracking both the back and the front screen. Then the Born Pretty team reached out about a review and I gave in and opted for a case in one of my favorite colors, mustard (if you couldn't tell how much I loved it from my blog design). But I'm actually starting to love having a case more. For one thing, it's such a bold color that it makes it easy to spot when my room is covered in clothes and food. And second of all, just look at that design on the back! It's covered in little houses and buildings that actually stick out to create a fun texture. A winner? INDEED. I wish the edges came out a little bit more to give my front screen a little bit more protection, but so far no further damage has come to my phone. Victory!
