Like There's Something Left to Prove

The weather is amping the fuck up and I couldn't be more excited to ditch all of my winter coats and throw them out the window. But actually not because I love them just the same, even if they're associated with the bitter cold winds of winter. I'll more likely carefully hang them up in the hall closet but not feel one bit guilty for saying goodbye for their hibernation period.

My skin is already making it's rounds outside via rolled up sleeves, thigh high socks, the holes in my destroyed denim, and bare ankles. If I keep this up I'll be wearing barely any clothes in August. Good thing New York City lets you be topless in public, am I right? (Just kidding, mom.)

Bad Ass Counters + Large Cheeks

Olive Green Toggle Coat c/o Tulle (similar, similar), H&M Tan Knit Sweater (similar), Black Over the Knee Socks, and Gray Scuba Knit Skater Skirt (similar), Steve Madden Compton Bootie (similar), Madewell Bolo Necklace, A.J. Morgan Sunglasses (similar)

I'm under the belief that wearing sunglasses instantly makes you look like 200% more of a bad ass.  I am also under the belief that when those same sunglasses constantly slide down your nose, your bad ass counter starts to slowly decrease until you're back at your normal level of bad ass (which, for me, is very low).

Luckily for me, if you can see in exhibit "all-of-these-pictures", my cheeks are large enough to finish the job by nose was sent to do, but failed to do. Thanks, large cheeks, for holding up my sunglasses. It's greatly appreciate.

Spring 2016 Cravings | $75 and Under

Now that it's March, I'm pretty sure it's appropriate to talk about spring being right around the corner. Honestly, it was probably appropriate once all the Easter merchandise started hitting the shelves, which was about a few days before Valentine's Day even arrived (Can I get a shout out for dem PEEEEPS!?).

But this spring I'm sticking to my beloved neutrals and taking more of a softer spin on them with nudes, whites, and pale pinks. What are you guys excited to start hoarding in your closets over the coming weeks? Besides overalls and flares, of course...

70's AF

Volcom Olive Green Wide-Brim Hat c/o LuLu*s (similar), Joe Fresh Cream Blouse (similar, similar), Madewell Flea Market Flare Corduroys (similar, similar), Forever 21 Gray Longline Wool Coat (similar), Vince Camuto Carine High Heels (similar)

2015 was definitely the year I fell in love with overalls. Not because I needed them for practical reasons, like working the rails in the midwest, but because I loved how simple they were and how many pockets they had (women's jeans still need to step up their pocket game; gimme those cargo pants).

And now to continue my new obsession for the 70's (or I guess everyone's current obsession for the 70's) I've taken on flares, or as I affectionately like to call them...bell bottoms. I remember when these were the standard for jeans when I was younger. If you wore skinny jeans you were pretty lame and everyone silently judged you for not having pant legs flapping around every which way. I actually tried to rock a really old pair of flares back in 2010, and failed miserably (but I wouldn't admit it then). If I had known they would've made yet another round in fashion history I probably would have held on to them and sold them for millions. Just kidding, they would have sold for like $10. Jackpot.

Just you wait, the next thing you know I'll be really into the 70's and pairing these flares with bold patterned button-downs with most of the buttons undone, showing off my bounty of chest hair. Oh wait, I already do that...

Kids These Days

Gap Black Overalls (similar, similar), H&M Striped T-Shirt (similar), Joe Fresh Faux Leather Motorcycle Jacket (similar), Urban Outfitters Black Textured Mini-Backpack (similar), The Point c/o Rothy's

The other day my co-worker mentioned how all the kids these days were starting to bring back trends of her childhood, such as flared jeans and overalls. Then earlier this week, I sneakily sauntered into the office wearing these bad boys. To some degree, I'm the kids these days. Not to mention the pair of corduroy flares I got in the mail the other day.

Then again, just yesterday I finally learned about the "Damn, Daniel!" meme that's taking over the internets lately and I thought to myself, "Kids these days." It's just a never ending cycle of people aging and shaking their heads at the youth.

I'm pretty sure this means when I'm old and gray and I look at the teens of the latest generation I'm going to be absolutely flabbergasted and I'll just lose it with all the exclamations of "Kids these days" bouncing around my mind until I need to recede into a dark hole of the good ol' days.

Or there's a slight chance that I'll stay in the know and roll with the hippest of teens, regardless of my age. But...probably not. Most likely not.
